May is also the month for many graduations: elementary, continuation, high school, college, etc... When I saw this stamp from Eat Cake Graphics of Hank (the dog) riding on his Hoover vacuum, I knew I wanted a banner behind him announcing the occasion...
I could eat taco's everyday! Couldn't you? YUM! Well, so can my brother. LOL...so I made him a birthday card with taco's using the colors of Mexico. I found this adorable clip art of dancing taco's online and printed them in color on white cardstock. They were already colored, but if they weren't, you could totally color them in with any kind of markers, colored pencils, crayons, etc...I could have made it fancier, with glitter pen on the text, or bling, but I wanted it more natural and masculine, as it was for my brother.
I layered the taco image on top of a Bo Bunny green double dot pattern paper, added yellow ric rac ribbon from Doodlebug, and added red brads from Creative Impressions. Easy Peasy! Hope you're having a crafty week! I'd love to see what your making. Feel free to post your craft projects here: P.S.> Don't forget about our "500 follower" Giveaway on Facebook...we're almost there, so keep sharing our page and tell all your friends and family about the great projects, deals, and recipes we offer every day. Thanks so much for your kind words and support! ~Kim A modern Christmas card with a tale to tell...once upon a time, I had a stamp I wanted to use. It was of the Eiffel tower wrapped in holly. When I think of the Eiffel tower, I think of pink and black and a card was born. I have never created a modern card before and certainly not a pink Christmas card, as I knew my husband would be thrilled. NOT! LOL...but once it was finished, he did like it.
I knew I wanted pink and black. I started back in August gathering up products I had, or found around town, and putting them in a tote bag. Every time I had an idea or a product I wanted to use, it went in the tote bag. I do this every year. So, when I'm ready to create I have all my ideas and products in one tote bag. Makes life a little easier...See tutorial below... It has been a long journey of determination, but not without its constant amount of rejection, failure, upset, and defeat. I vowed last January 2014 that I was going to make one of my dreams come true by having my art published in a magazine. Every month I’d make one of kind creations to submit. Sometimes I’d submit to two magazines in the same months, so double the projects, but they had to be different projects. The deadlines were brutal in my house. I became a crazy person at deadline time. Everything stopped at the house. No laundry was done, no dishes done, and we’d eat out because my projects took over the dining room table. Every month for the last eleven months I was gracefully rejected with no constructive feedback. It was hard. I never knew why I wasn't chosen...
My mother-in-law's birthday is on Oct 31st and she loves all things Halloween. This year's card I wanted to incorporate a patch work type pumpkin I've been seeing all over social media. When you use pattern papers together in similar color families, or theme, they coordinate nicely. As I did with orange and black...
