Tutorial: I started with an 8.5x11” piece of kraft cardstock, folded in half (not seen in photo). Adhered a piece of 6x6 vintage looking patterned paper to card base. I cut a teal piece of patterned paper from the same paper pack about 3x6” and adhered to the card. Next I layered and re-sized these digital stamp images from two coffee sets, printed on X-Press It white cardstock using an HP Deskjet printer. Colored the images with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, mostly browns, grays, and a pop of teal. Using a die cutting machine and a postage die to cut out the image. Then blended around the edges with distress oxide ink with a blending brush. And adhered to a dark piece of wood patterned paper and adhered to the card. Trimmed down the card to about 5x6” and added a few metallic gem pearls. And added a touch of sparkle to the silver metal pieces on the “old timey” coffee bean grinder with a clear sparkle pen to complete this beauty.

Hi everybody! Welcome back for Day 5 as my Growing in Unity Week comes to a close at Unity Stamp Company! I hope you've had a fun week seeing all kinds of folds and some of my favorite things. I know, I sure have! You've inspired me with your kindness and projects. And I hope I've inspired you to try something old and make it fresh and new again!

So it wouldn't be my final day if I didn't share one more oldie, but also a goodie...Do you remember Gift Card Holders...made from upcycled toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls? Because I know you have some in your recycle bins, as we've all been hoarding the TP for weeks! (lol).

And I'm sure some of you are like "EWE," nope, not going to use those. And that's fine. I get it, my little sister was like that too (lol). You can actually buy brand new rolls, just the rolls. Really! No kidding, at Michael's or online. Or just use a paper towel roll and cut it at 6" for todays project. Or cut it at 5 1/2" (in half) and you can get two smaller gift card holders from one paper towel roll too! We are up-cycling, re-purposing, and saving the planet today!

For today's project I'm making a Masculine Gift Card Holder and a matching Masculine Birthday Card for my eldest son, who turns 21yr next week! It's all about the boys today! Along with some of my favorite things, like, motorcycles, sports cars, glitter pens, plaid, and tags!
I have 3 sons, so cars are all the rage at my house. But I bet you didn't know I spent a 2 week honeymoon on the back of a motorcycle touring Canada and their ferry system to the islands! Fun times!
Okay...enough talk...Let's get started on some projects...

Tutorial-Gift Card Holder: Lets get our supplies together. You will need a 6" roll, MISTI stamping tool, glitter pens in red and clear; Versafine Onyx black ink; ribbon, and our two big stamps. Click or hover over pictures below for more directions.

Here is a close up...it's hard to see the sparkle on the windows and the body of the car, but it's there. Not too much though, it is for a boy! And shhhhh it's our little secret...nobody has to know we upcycled a toilet paper roll and made a gift card holder!

Next I used Unity's April Sketch Challenge to make a matching Birthday card to go along with the gift card holder!

Tutorial-Card: I started with an 8.5x11" gray piece of 110lb cardstock as our card base. Cut in half to make an A2 sized card. Cut a piece of chalky black piece of patterned paper from the MME paper pad A2-4 1/4x 5 1/2" and adhered to the card base. Cut 2 strips of patterned paper from the same MME paper pad and adhered like shown above. Click or hover over pictures below for more directions.

Hi everybody! Welcome back to Day 4 of my Growing in Unity Week at Unity Stamp Company. It's been fun digging into my stamps and supplies to see what I haven't used in a really long time and make it new again. I hope I've inspired you to see what you can find in your craft rooms too! Because here is another oldie, but also a goodie...Do you remember Gate Fold Cards? They're usually popular with wedding cards, graduation, or all kinds of announcements. But I think they are pretty awesome for all occasions, any time of the year too! They have that something special on the outside, with a surprise inside.

For today's project I'm making a Gate Fold Card from one sheet of 8.5" x 11" cardstock, along with some of my favorite things, like, lots of color, flowers, coloring with colored pencils, and LOTS of sparkle! I know another floral, but hey, Unity has gorgeous florals, so I can't help myself. Plus, I'm surrounded by 3 sons and a hubby here...so I'm coloring in my craft corner and making girly projects! (lol) So, let's get started...

Tutorial: I started with an 8.5" x 11" piece of yellow 110lb cardstock, cut the length and width to the dimensions shown in the diagram below. Click or hover over pictures below for more step by step instructions.

Next lets add some sparkle. And Unity has this Folkart Extreme Glitter acrylic paint that is so shimmery and awesome! It comes out white, like glue, but dries clear and sparkly, with teeny tiny specs of colors. It's really pretty. I just squeeze a drop onto scrap paper and apply with a Q-tip to both sides of the bloom image. You can brush it on with a paint brush, but you'll need to wash it in water right away or it won't come off and you've ruined your brush. Plus you might see the brush strokes too, which is fine if you're going for that look. But a Q-tip works great ya'll. A little goes a long way, so nice and thin layers is enough. And it's dry in less than 5 minutes. Click or hover over pictures below for more step by step instructions.

I could have called it done here, but I wanted to do a little something on the inside and maybe a little more bling to the front. What do you think? Follow along and see what I did...

Here is a close up of what I've done so far on the front. And I also went around the edges of the bloom on both sides with a Spectrum Noir marker IG1 (a very light grey) to highlight the bloom. I could have been done there and that would have been fine. But I thought it needed something else. Click or hover over pictures below for more step by step instructions.

Here is a close up of my finished card. What do you think? Speckles and bling or none, like above? I like either one, but if you know me...it's going to have more bling!

Growing in Unity Day 3 + Autumn Z-Fold Card

Hi everybody! Welcome back to Day 3 of my Growing in Unity Week at Unity Stamp Company. We've made it to the halfway mark and I've thoroughly enjoyed reading all your wonderful comments. Thank you for your kindness, it's really touched my heart! I hope I've inspired you to dust off your tools, use something old, and make it new again! Because today is another oldie, but also a goodie...Do you remember Z-Fold Cards? AKA Tri-folds, Double Z, or Tall Z-Fold. you get the idea.

For today's project I'm making an Autumn themed Tall Z-Fold card from one sheet of 8.5" x 11" cardstock. Yay! Why? Because Autumn is my favorite time of year and why not!?! We're cooped up inside, let's dig deep in our craft rooms and play with our stuff! I used some of my favorite things, like, pretty papers, punches, alcohol markers, Autumn stamps, and an Autumn Angiegirl too! Fun, right? Let's get started...

Here is a close up of the Angiegirl, November Girl. Isn't she sweet?

I cut and trimmed a Unity patterned paper in woodgrain and adhered to the card base. And punched out a pumpkin border from an orange scrap and adhered to the bottom. Here is a close up of the Angiegirl I colored with Spectrum Noir markers listed below. And adhered her to the card panel and tucked her just behind the pumpkin border. And added a touch of zig glue to the pumpkin border to adhere the tops to the card panel.

Here is a close up of all 3 panels of the Z-Fold Card. What do you think? You can do so much more with this card. Remember there is a whole backside to decorate too. And I only covered one of those panels! The possibilities are endless! Pretty fun, right???

Now for a little distraction today....an Easter Egg Wreath Tutorial!
Easter is next Sunday, April 12th ya'll...but don't fret! You still have time to make Easter cards and get them mailed with these easy peasy digital stamps in the ==> Polka Dot Orchard Shop!!! So many to choose from and they are ON SALE too!!!

Tutorial: I use a WPS Free Office document program to copy and paste Polka Dot Orchard digital images into, to layer, move images around, and resize them. For today's project I cropped and erased the bunny chick off the eggs, and then copied and pasted that image six times. And arranged the eggs in a circle or wreath. I copied, pasted, and centered a sentiment inside the wreath. Once I had the images where I wanted them, I grouped them as one piece, saved, and renamed as a “new” document in the same file as my original stamp set, to use again for future use. I printed my image on my HP printer using the "thin" brand of white cardstock from HL.

I was inspired by those bright colored Easter egg dye kits we all used as a kid or still may use. And colored the image with these Spectrum Noir alcohol marker colors shown above. I used IB2 around the petals of the daisies to highlight them. Using a Picket Fence blending brush I added a touch of Distress Oxide ink to the inside of the wreath, to highlight the sentiment.

I fussy cut the wreath out with scissors. Adhered a piece of green satin ribbon behind the wreath and adhered wreath to a 6x6” piece of Unity Stamps wood grain patterned paper. Which I thought resembled a door. Then adhered the whole piece to an 8.5x11” 100lb piece of Brutus Monroe Lunchbag kraft cardstock, folded in half, and trimmed down to 6x6,” not shown. Which will take extra postage, because it's square (sorry). And added a touch of clear sparkle pen to the teeny tiny little ladybugs that are on a few of the eggs to finish this wonderful card. I kept this card fairly simple and flat for mailing, but colorful for Easter!

Hi everybody! Kim here, and I hope this finds you all doing well and being inspired by all the crafters posting many creations these past few weeks to entertain and inspire us. On behalf of CAS-ual Fridays Stamps we are celebrating and Sponsoring 'International Women's Day' all month long. March 8th is a day aimed to help nations worldwide eliminate discrimination against women, but as not to leave our guys out...International Men's Day is also celebrated on November 19 each year. But today and all month is to honor and celebrate our wonderful women, women empowerment and sisterhood all around the world!

The idea behind this hop started last year with 10 amazing women card makers who wanted to encourage other women through their crafts. Just a small word of encouragement from fellow women goes a long way and can do wonders. So let us come together and empower our sisters all around the world. Because we're in this together! Wow! Pretty awesome, right? We look forward to building a positive environment with your support.

For today's project: I was inspired by the beauty, spirituality, and sisterhood of our amazing CFS 'Flower Angel' and 'Angel Hugs' stamp sets to create this precious project with water colors, distress inks, die cuts, heat embossing, and some sparkle.

Tutorial: I started with an 8.5x11” yellow 100lb Papertrey Ink cardstock, folded in half, because I’ll trim it down at the end. I cut the left edge off a 4x6” turquoise panel from AC Tropical cardstock, using my die cutting machine with a stitched curvy scallop die from SimonSaysStamp and adhered to the card base. As I was cleaning up my craft desk, I came across some random pieces I had saved from previous projects, as we all do, that got me thinking I could incorporate some of them into this new project. I had a yellow die cut circle and a white cardstock panel that was sprayed with iridescent glimmer mist. So, using a PF blender brush I inked up the yellow circle with some fossilized amber distress oxide ink to make it a little darker and give it some interest. And using my die cutting machine again, I cut a smaller circle, from Gina Marie Designs, in the upper right corner of the white panel, that is smaller than the yellow circle. And using a water brush I added ink splatters in peacock feathers distress ink and fossilized amber oxide ink to match our project. Once dry, adhered the yellow circle to the outside of the panel with Tombow Multi liquid glue to move it in place. And set aside, do NOT attach yet. Polka Dot Orchard + Irish Friendship Card

Happy (almost) St. Patrick's Day & it's Friday the 13th too!!! Eeek! Are you superstitious? I'm not really, but I think I have a bit of 'Luck o' the Irish' with me today. Because I'm sharing this sweet card full of spring colors, plaid, and childhood memories from this darling "Lollipop Love" set by Polka Dot Orchard digital stamps. It's not just for Valentines Day. It's versatile for other occasions too! Isn't this cheery and fun??? Love it!!!

Reminds of those brightly colored sucker pops I used to get from the candy store across the street from my Grandma's house. OH! You heard me right! A kids dream! Am I right? Oh yeah...a sweet little mom and pop general store, but we always called it the "candy store," where all our pennies were spent when we came to visit! And these suckers took me right back to those days! Such sweet memories of me and my little sister filling our small brown paper bags full of 1 cent candies. Oh! Those were the days!

Tutorial on how I made this card:
I folded an 8.5x11" Papertrey Ink shamrock green cardstock in half for my card base. It's one of my favorite brands, because it's a good, quality, sturdy 100-110lb cover cardstcok. Great for a base. Next I selected this lovely Irish looking plaid patterned paper, trimmed ¼” smaller than our base and adhered to the card base. And trimmed off the top of the cardstock. As I've been making larger cards lately. While A2 sized cards seem too small lately and an A7 card seem too big. This card is in between at about 6x5 3/4," which is just a smidge smaller than a perfect square.

My color palette was inspired by those suckers I remember from my childhood and a wee bit of Irish influence. I use WPS Free Office document program to copy and paste Polka Dot Orchard digital images, to layer, move images around, and allows you to resize them. For today's project I resized the suckers, copied, and pasted that image three times. And arranged them to form a 4-leaf clover. Once I had the images where I wanted them, I grouped them as one piece, saved, and renamed, as a “new” document in the same file as my original stamp set, for future use.

I printed my image on my HP printer using the thin brand of white cardstock from HL. And colored the image with alcohol markers. I originally had 4 sets of suckers to color, but while I was coloring my last grouping of suckers, my red marker bled really badly outside the lines and into the other suckers. It looked so ugly, I just wanted to cry. But we all make mistakes. And life goes on and then I went into recovery mode. So now I have a 3-leaf clover and still feeling pretty lucky. I’m all about problem solving and salvaging a project. Which in the end did save me a lot of time and resources, instead of just tossing it and starting over.

Using a die cutting machine I cut the image out with a stitched square die and turned for a diamond shape. And cut out our sentiment with a stitched oval die. Using a Picket Fence blending brush, added some yellow lemonade distress ink to highlight our image and sentiment. Then cut out a larger stitched oval from the same shamrock green cardstock and adhered to back of sentiment. Next adhered our image, ugly ‘mistake’ suckers pointing down (lol) to the card. Then adhered the sentiment to card, covering up the “ugly” suckers on the bottom. Voila! See...can’t even tell I messed up. Shhhhhhh...it’s our little secret. Nobody will ever know. (lol)

Added some clear glitter pen sparkle to the ‘pop’ letters on the center suckers. Added some coordinating buttons, and some festive bakers twine. And there you have a wee bit o' luck on this Irish beauty ready for it’s snail mail journey.

But I narrowed it down to a stamp set I hadn't used before and
combined that with a few of my favorite things.

Polka Dot Orchard + Happy Birthday Gnome Card

Happy Leap Year Birthday Gnomies!!! Kim here from My Kraft Kloset sharing a darling gnome card for this special occasion, that only happens every 4yrs! Today I used these cute "Caroling Gnomes" set for our main image with some paper piecing. And a sentiment from the "Birthday Chick" set by Polka Dot Orchard digital stamps. I love mixing and matching sets and finding the versatility in my products to use all year long. As you would think this gnome set is mainly for the holidays, but you will see they are adorable for birthdays too!

I use WPS Free Office document program to copy and paste Polka Dot Orchard digital images, to layer, move them around, and resize them to fit on my card. Once I have the images where I want them, I usually group them as one piece and save as a “new” document in the same file as my original stamp set, for future use. Then I printed on my HP printer using white cardstock from HL, using the thin brand. And printed another three more times on 6x6 patterned papers too!

Next I fussy cut two different hats, a beard, and a mustache from the patterned papers and adhered to our image on white cardstock using Tombow Multi liquid glue. This is called paper piecing. And it's so fun to use up your scraps or favorite pattern papers.

I colored the rest of the images with alcohol markers. And brushed Distress Inks around the edges with a blending brush to give it an outdoorsy look.

Then using a die cutting machine, I cut out the the image panel with a stitched circle die. And cut out a musical banner from Papertrey Ink patterned paper with a stitched banner die too!

Now let's put the card together...
I started with a sturdy quality gray cardstock 8.5-x11,” I like Papertrey Ink cardstock, folded in half, and trimmed down to 4.5x6.” And adhered a piece of 4x6” AC textured black cardstock to the card base.

Wrap bakers twine around the musical banner and tie in a knot and adhere to the black panel. And adhere the circle image to black panel. Added little adhesive heart gems to the card. And added a touch more sparkle to the music notes at the top of our image with a clear glitter pen to complete this darling birthday card your gnomie is going to love!

It allows me to layer and group digital images as one piece, by moving them around, or bringing images forward and back behind images. Once I have the grouped images where I want them, I save them in the file too, and print on my HP printer using white cardstock from HL, using the thin brand. Polka Dot Orchard + Masculine Valentines Card

Hi everybody!!! Kim here sharing a masculine Valentines Day card using the "He Said Coffee" set for our main image, background, and sentiment. Plus another sentiment from "Lollipop Love" all by Polka Dot Orchard digital stamps. It's a wonderful set so great for all kinds of projects. And if you don't do Valentines, then this set is awesome for Father's Day or Birthday cards too!

How I made this card...

I use a WPS Free Office program to copy and paste Polka Dot Orchard digital images. It allows me to layer digital images to create one piece, by moving them around, or bringing images forward and back behind images. Once I resized them to fit on our card and had the images where I wanted them, I printed on my HP printer using white cardstock from HL, using the thin brand. And print two sets of sentiments (one for the front and the other for the inside)

I colored the image with a combination of Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, Prismacolor colored pencils and Gamsol, to get the right color scheme I wanted. And brushed Distress Inks around the edges with a blending brush. Because who doesn't love a guy in pink, wearing an apron, serving coffee? Right?

Then using a die cutting machine, I cut out the the image panel with a stitched rectangle die. And set aside, as I made our card base.

Next I took an 8.5x11" kraft cardstock, folded in half to create our card base. Then using a die cutting machine again, I cut out a piece of striped patterned paper with an Edgers Confetti Cuts die, and adhered to card base with arrow pointing to the left. But I changed my mind and flipped the striped panel and made the arrow pointing to the right.

Cut a strip of red cardstock and adhere to card. Took a red paper doily, cut in half, and adhered to card. Trimmed down the kraft card base. Cut and adhered a gray satin ribbon across the center. Adhered our main man image panel over that ribbon and doily to card. Cut a second piece of ribbon, tie in a bow, and adhere to card. As shown below...

Then take those sentiments we printed earlier and hand sketch brown lines around the first line of one of the sentiments, cut it out, and adhere to front of card. Take the second sentiment (without the first line) adhere to inside of card. Adhere embellishment hearts leftover from another project, but any heart stickers, punches, or die cuts would work too. Now onto the Blog Hop! Where several amazing designer friends and myself share our love (and obsessions) of all things Unity Stamps each month with a new theme.
And this months Blog Hop theme is... All is Calm!!!

I start every theme with "what does that mean to me?" As it can be interpreted in so many different ways, which you'll see along our hop. I focused on the calm and the peace I find in winter. And was inspired by nature, a beautiful forest, the first snow glistening, and snowflakes, that all remind me of my winters growing up in Michigan and Colorado. And there is nothing like that first snow. Everything covered in a fresh blanket of pure white frost. So calm, peaceful, sparkly, and magical!

I started with white cardstock and blended a few distress ink colors to create the wintry sky. Using a MISTI stamp tool to line up my scene. Rubbed with an anti-static pouch, and I inked up the trees with clear ink, stamped on the right, and sprinkled with silver embossing powder, and heat set. Then lined up the deer and stamped and embossed in silver. And stamped another row of trees on the left and embossed in silver. Then blended blue ink below the tree line to create the snow line and snow banks. In a contained box, sprayed white pearl mica sparkles over scene to create snowflakes and sparkle of the snow. Dab to dry and heat set, because all embossing will stick to distress oxide inks. Once dry, stamp sentiment with blue distress oxide ink, sprinkle with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Added glitter glue below the trees, a few snowflakes, and created a snow bank of sparkle. Once dry, adhered scene to a navy cardstock matte border ¼” larger, and a silver glitter cardstock ¼” larger, then adhered to a white card stock base (not shown) to complete.

Here is a close up of all that shimmer and shine of the silver embossing powder, the diamond stickles glitter glue, and the clear embossing on the sentiment over distress oxide ink.

My second card continued that peace with lots of glistening snowflakes on this amazing background stamp, heat embossed, and ink blended on kraft cardstock.

I cut a piece of kraft cardstock A2 size and blended with a few distress oxide ink colors around the edges. And added white ink with some blue in the center. Using a MISTI stamp tool, lined up the snowflake border stamp, inked up with clear ink, stamped, sprinkled with white embossing powder, and heat set. TIP: heat set the distress oxide inks BEFORE you heat emboss or it will stick to everything and use an anti-static pouch. Luckily, it had dried enough that it didn’t stick everywhere, but just a few strays added to our flakey panel. Next stamped sentiment with blue distress oxide ink, sprinkled with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Trimmed off ¼” on two sides and adhered to an A2 navy cardstock base. Adhered a band of silver glitter cardstock across the front. Added sequins and a snowflake brad to complete.

And there you have it...my version of all is calm in winter!

Polka Dot Orchard Challenge of Thanks-Hostess Tag

Happy Thanksgiving week! As we're all running around grocery shopping, baking, and cooking to get ready for the big day, allow yourself a moment to stop and give thanks for your blessings, and maybe carve out some crafting time to relax and recharge. It won't take long to create a card or a tag for those family or friends hosting your special holiday meals that will be greatly received. And enter your project in our Polka Dot Orchard "Thanks" Instagram Challenge! Details below...

Today I am sharing this darling hostess tag for our "Tag It Tuesday" series and to remind you of the Polka Dot Orchard Instagram Challenge that runs thru November 28, 2019. The theme of this challenge is 13 Days Of Thanks. What are you thankful for? I'm thankful for my family, wonderful friends near and far, good health, and my craft supplies, which some were acquired recently from late sister.

Tutorial below...

I started this tag by layering a few digital images and printed on white X-Press It cardstock. And colored the image with watercolor pencils and a light touch with a water brush. Using a die cutting machine and tag dies to cut it out and cut out a larger tag in a plaid pattern paper and adhered the two together. Traced over the sentiment with black sparkle pen to brighten it up. And added some clear sparkle pen on the leaves and baster too. Punched a whole in the top and added ribbon to complete this turkey tag and tied to a nice bottle of wine ready for our hostess.

Welcome to the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! This is a HUGE Hop that runs through Nov. 8, 2019 and is a week dedicated to Coffee, Tea, Cider, and Cocoa Loving Papercrafters! For my caffeinated project today I chose this amazing digital stamp set
"A Grateful Heart" by Polka Dot Orchard
It's a wonderful set for many occasions, with different sentiments, but this one is especially great for Thanksgiving! Don't you think?

How I made this Fall Card: I started with two pieces of 8.5x11" orange cardstock, folded in half, and trimmed down to 6.5x5" for the card base. Cut the second piece in half and trimmed down to fit card base exactly, but for embossing. Sorry I'm into odd sized cards lately. The A2's seem too small and 5x7" seem to large. So, I'm somewhere in the middle. For the second orange piece, and using a die cutting machine, place inside an embossing folder, to get this amazing tree impression texture that won't show though to the inside, because of this extra step, but you will eventually adhere it to the front of the card base, but not yet...just set aside for a moment. Next I printed the image on X-Press It white cardstock, layered a sentiment inside, and printed on an HP Laserjet printer. Using the die cutting machine again, cut out image with a stitched die. This time I water colored lightly, with very little water, as to not warp my paper, and dipped my water brush directly into the distress ink colors to achieve this look. And used a blending brush to add color around the edges. Then adhered the image to a brown piece of cardstock for matting and adhered to the orange embossed panel. And adhered the whole panel to the card base as our front piece. I am mad for plaids...so I had to add some to this Fall card. So I cut a strip of this plaid patterned paper 1x5" and cut down one side with a border punch and adhered to card. Added some twine and adhered the whole image panel to the card base. Then added a touch of bling to the pumpkins and berries to make them sparkle, of course, and this Fall beauty is complete and pretty flat for mailing too!

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the leaves changing colors, pumpkin spice in my coffee, and everything about Halloween! And I knew when I saw these amazing *NEW* digital stamps from Super Sponsor
Polka Dot Orchard that I wanted to combine them for this Blog Hop.

I started with a 110lb purple cardstock 8.5x11" folded in half and trimmed down to 4 5/8w x 6 1/4L" for my card base. Added a green polka dot pattern paper cut 1/4" smaller around than my card base and adhered to card. Then I cut a piece of black card stock 3 1/8w x 4 5/8L" and trimmed the top and bottom with a spiderweb border punch and adhered to the card panel. Next I combined my digital images and sentiment in WPS Office 2019, sized them, and layered them the way I wanted and printed on white X-Press It cardstock on my HP printer. Cut out the image with a stitched scallop die using a die cutting machine. And did the same with the sentiment with a different stitched die with no scallops, so as not to distract from our fabulous hat and boots image.

For today's project I combined Best Witches, Pumpkin Spice Mice (from the *NEW* Release), and a sentiment from Coffee Pumpkin Flourish sets to create this card. Aren't these fabulous!?!
I just want to color them all the pretty colors, don't you?

You'll be seeing these a lot, as I just LOVE them! And they are designed by my crafty friends, Crystal of Tawny Owl Paperie blog and Jeanie of Washi Horse Designs, as they are super talented designers that you may recognize from our Friends of Unity blog hops we do together every month! Stay tuned...

Then colored the images with these alcohol markers colors shown above. Once done coloring the image looked a little stark, so I used a blending brush and added some distress oxide ink in blue aroung the edges to make it a little more "spooky" looking. And did the same to the sentiment too. Adhered the main image to the card at an angle so you can see some webs and that slime green background and adhered the sentiment too. Added some bling, of course, to the spiderwebs on the boots and hat with yellow glitter glue and orange gems. Added purple gems across the bottom black spiderwebs and to the letters "i" in the sentiment to finish this spooktacular beauty!

Here's another look at this bewitching card all done with digital stamps, so fun to color, and great for many fun occasions!
I can't wait to color these in more colors. Stay tuned...

Our theme for this months Blog Hop is...Autumn Colors!!!
I love all holidays, but Autumn is my favorite time of year with all the leaves changing colors, pumpkin spice everything appears, and we have lots of family birthdays to celebrate too! So, that means...I make A LOT of cards!
This month I was inspired by the 200 foot trees in the park by my house. And I kid you not, they are really that tall and surround our neighborhood too. I took this picture last Autumn when the trees were full of all the colors of autumn and it was magnificent.

So because this is my favorite time of year, I couldn't help myself and made a few cards with some old and new to me techniques to share with you all!

My 1st card I knew I wanted lots of leaves and color with ink smooshing, alcohol markers, and die cuts on a fairly large card.

My 2nd card I used masking, ink blending, and distress micro glaze techniques on a layered card with die cut frames.

My 3rd card is similar to my 2nd card with masking, ink blending, and distress micro glaze techniques on a layered card with die cut frames, but slightly different with a mix of Autumn patterns and colors.

Our theme for this months Blog Hop is...Furry Friends or any kind of animals!
And once again I am challenged to create something with animals, which I'll admit, I'm not great at coloring. But I dug into my Unity stash to see what I could find and I was pleasantly surprised. And with Unity...once you get started...it's hard to stop stamping. So, I have quite a random collection to share with you today!

First up this darling 'Panda' card

I started with an A2 110lb kraft cardstock base with a lovely green watercolor patterned paper from MFT that's cut about a 1/4" smaller and adhered to card base. Using a die cutting machine, cut a a six circle cutout die cut in a darker green patterned paper from G45 and glued down with liquid glue. (save the extra circles). Using a Misti stamp tool, I stamped the panda's, butterfly, stars, and sentiment (from 2 Unity Panda sets) with Catherine Poolers Midnight black ink on white X-Press It cardstock. And colored all the pieces with alcohol markers. I used a light gray on the panda's for highlights and dimension, fussy cut them out, and adhered them to the card. With a blending brush I added a touch of green distress oxide ink to the sentiment, adhered it to one of those extra die cut circles leftover from earlier, trimmed the edges, and used 3D foam tape to pop it up and adhere to the panel. Added some shimmer to the butterfly wings with Wink of Stella-clear and added yellow stickles glitter glue to the stars for some extra sparkle. Once dry, adhered all the pieces to the panel to complete this adorable card! So, cute for many occasions!

Next up: This adorable 'bunny' card

I started with a 12x12" 110lb light pink cardstock, cut in half 6x12" and folded for a 6x6" finished base (not shown) with two amazingly fun 6x6 patterned papers from Doodlebug, cut on a diagonal, and adhered to the card base.

Using a Misti stamp tool, I stamped the bunny on white X-Press It cardstock with Gina K Amalgam black ink and colored with these alcohol maker colors shown above. I only used two gray markers on the bunny, with a touch of pink, and a red heart. I added colorless blender ink onto a terry wash cloth and dabbed it onto the bunny in a few places, to take off some gray ink, which leaves a faint textured imprint from the wash cloth. To resemble fur. A quilted paper towel or baby wipe works too.

I felt the image was too stark. So I tapped some pink distress oxide ink onto an acrylic block, added a couple drops of water, and painted on some pink watercolor around the bunny. Don't add too much water, as your paper may ripple or pill, because we're not using watercolor paper. But it can be done. Just add a little color at a time and dab off with a paper towel. You can let it dry a little and add more color for depth as needed. Set a side to dry. Once dry, I added some watered down black distress oxide ink splatters around the image with a paint bush, being careful to cover or mask bunny, so not to get any on the image. Set a side to dry. Using a die cutting machine I cut out the bunny with a stitched square die; cut out a larger square in black cardstock to create a border; and cut an even larger stitched square from a light green cardstock. Once dry adhere the bunny image to the black cardstock square, adhere the light green stitched square down first, like a diamond, and then adhere the bunny image on top. Stamped a sentiment (from a Unity grab bag) with Amalgam ink onto light green cardstock, adhere to black cardstock, trim around, and adhere to card. Added some pink and green glittery enamel dots to finish this precious card that is so adorable for many occasions!

Voila! And you too can make "furry friend" cards! I hope I've inspired you to mix and match your stamps in new and creative ways! And see what you can create. The possibilities are endless!

Our theme for this months Blog Hop is...Vintage!!!
So, what is Vintage? Well, according to Webster's: something antique is also vintage, but
something vintage isn't necessarily
antique, because to be classified as an antique it has to be over 100 years old. Interesting, right?
I'm more of a modern girl, so I was quite challenged with this months 'Vintage' theme. I drew my inspiration from old fashioned dresses, probably from our wedding theme last month, as I still had dress stamps all over my craft table. But also, while going through my craft stash, I came across vintage looking sewing patterns and postage stamps with vintage writing, flowers, and buttons that all went well together too! That's why I LOVE our monthly themes! They really challenge me to think outside of the box and look at what I have, mix and match and to use things in unexpected or unintended ways and turn them into something new and extraordinary.

How to make this card: I started with an 8.5x11" piece of 100lb lt. peach cardstock folded in half and trimmed at the top, so folded and finished would be 5.5x6" (which is not shown). Then trimmed 1/2" off one side of this fabulous vintage looking dress patterned paper and adhered to card base. Blended some distress ink over the patterned paper with a blending brush to age the paper for a vintage look. Next I found this fabulous postcard stamp in my Unity stash and stamped with black ink onto white cardstock, blended a darker distress ink over it to age it with a blending brush, tore into strips, inked the edges, and adhered two strips to the card to create a unique vintage background.

On another piece of white cardstock, I stamped up this lovely dress image with distress ink, cut out with a stitched die using a die cut machine, blended the edges with distress ink and a blending brush for a vintage look. Next I used the same distress ink I stamped the dress with and a water brush to lightly color in a few flowers on the dress. Framed the image with black cardstock and adhered the two together. Wrapped the card front with a natural twine and tied into a bow and then adhered the dress panel with 3D foam tape to the card. Then painted three white fabric flowers with the same distress ink and set aside to dry.

Once the flowers were dry, I adhered them to the card and adhered these tiny vintage looking buttons to the centers with liquid glue too! Added a rusty colored piece of scrap twine to my bow for more color. And added just one sweet vintage adhesive pearl to the dress neckline for a touch of bling. Next I inked up this lovely sentiment with clear ink and stamped on a piece of postcard strips leftover, sprinkled white embossing powder, and heat set. Then adhered it to the card with 3D foam tape to be level with the dress panel to complete this vintage beauty!

Polka Dot Orchard Guest Designer + Patriotic Card

Happy Independence Week!!! I'm thrilled to announce I'll be Guest Designing weekly for Polka Dot Orchard in July and August with her fabulous digital stamp collections. I'm honored to be using stamps designed by my crafty friend, Jeanie May Hays, of Washi Horse Designs Blog, and you may recognize her name from our monthly 'Friends of Unity' blog hops we do together too! (Pssst... we will be hopping again this Sat, July 6th)

I totally picked this stamp set at random, not knowing Jeanie designed it, but I just love it and love it even more knowing my friend designed it. Isn't it marvelous? She's such an amazing artist and she says this is a beta fish, which it might be, but I can totally see it being a coy fish too. What do you think? Creativity is up to our imaginations, right? And this set is both feminine and masculine. The possibilities are endless! Go check it out today...it's 'ON SALE' and many others thru July 8th!

How I made this card: I started with an A2 sized 110lb white card base and cut the red check patterned paper the same size and adhered to card base. I sized and printed the digi (digital stamp) on thin white cardstock on my home printer and let it sit for an hour before I colored it. I read somewhere if you let it sit a bit after you print it, it won't smear. The longer the better, seems to work for me. I colored the flowers and fish with alcohol markers shown below and outlined the fish in a soft gray. I wasn't thinking how I was going to color this image and didn't chose a very alcohol friendly cardstock to print onto. It turned out ok, but as you can see around the edges the red and the blue "feathered" or bled a little bit outside the lines. You won't get that with Neenah, Spectrum Noir, or Copic friendly cardstock.

I could have just left it clean and simple, but I felt it needed some water. So, with a blending brush I added distress oxide inks and a touch of actual water to create a watery background. And got a bit of "water" on the fish too! So he looks like he's swimming. Using a die cutting machine I cut out the image with a simple stitched die and adhered to a piece of blue patterned paper to frame the image and adhered to the card.

Then printed a sentiment from this same set and did the same blending and cut out with a stitched die. And added a lovely matching ribbon and red/white bakers twine to make it festive. Added some glitter glue to the center of the flowers and the fish for some texture on his gills and to make it sparkle.

Here's another look at my patriotic fish card all done with digital stamps and so great for summer birthdays, graduation, wedding, masculine cards or any occasion. And if you've never tried digis before,
I hope I've inspired you to give them a try. As I'm so proud of my friend, Jeanie for designing this beautiful set, because they are just amazing
and certainly take up less space in my craft room.

Hi all! I'm here today to share some simple all occasion cards you can make easily for those special occasions that always pop up when you need a card lickety split. These are fast, easy, beautiful, use no adhesive, and are flat for mailing too! And I'll admit, I totally "craft-lifted" this idea from my designer friend, Crystal O. Minkler and paired it with a couple of my favorite floral stamps from the Unity Stamp Company.

I originally made all of these cards for a crafty friend in my state, who is donating them to a local place that helps caregivers and patients with dementia. And I'm honored to contribute. But I loved them so much, I had to make myself some Birthday and Thank you cards to have on hand too!

How I made these cards:
1. For both sets of cards I started with 8.5x11" 110lb white cardstock, cut in half, then fold those halves, which create two A2 cards per sheet.
2. Masked off the top and bottom areas with purple tape.
3. Inked up the center area with Distress Oxide ink with a blending brush. 4. Let sit a few minutes and removed the purple tape (craft masking tape).
5. Using a MISTI stamp tool I stamped each card with a gorgeous floral stamp and a good black ink. I love Catherine Poolers Midnight, Versafine Onyx black, and Gina K Amalgam black are my top favs.
6. And completed each card with a matching colored sentiment. And of course you can add some bling, a dab of glitter glue, or sequins/gems too! But I kept these beauties bling free, for mailing and true CAS (clean and simple) cards.

Easy peasy and oh so pleasing, right!?! And if you change the sentiment these lovely cards can be for almost any occasion! Or change from florals to boats, lighthouses, classic cars/trucks, or airplanes and these would be great for Father's Day, coming up Sunday, June 16th too!

Our theme for this months Blog Hop is...Wedding!!!

I too am a June bride as my hubby and I celebrate our 24th Anniversary this month too!!! WHOOOHOO!!! So, I took my inspiration from our wedding with a white gown, some lace, wild flowers, and being outdoors. And I wanted to show you how a few other Unity stamps can be for weddings too!

My first card represents everlasting love to the happy couple. Did you know swans mate for life? They do. For this card I mixed two stamp sets together to create this beautiful scene. I also incorporated some of my wedding colors and added our initials to one of the trees. Can you spot them? This set is great for Weddings, Anniversary, Valentines, Birthday, friendship, and many occasions!

My second card is for the bride. I was thinking for her bridal shower. I kept it simple with a white wash of ink on her dress and another stamp for wedding lace. They go beautifully together for many other occasions too!

I started with an A2 card base with kraft cardstock. Inked up the Lace A2 background stamp with clear ink, sprinkled with clear embossing powder, and heat set. On another piece of kraft cardstock I stamped the dresses in CP Midnight black ink, because it's good with all coloring mediums. And I used a touch of white pigment ink watered down and brushed onto the front dress to create a white wedding dress for the bride. Next I stamped a border around the dresses with the same clear ink, sprinkled clear embossing powder, and heat set. The image was too large to fit on the card with the sentiment, so I trimmed off the scallops and still left a stitched border and adhered dresses to card base. Then I stamped a sentiment from the swan stamp set above, with clear ink, white embossing powder, onto kraft cardstock, and heat set. Using a die cutting machine I cut out a stitched border around the sentiment. Added black cardstock behind it, adhered the two together, and adhered to card base. Added adhesive pearls to the dress and sentiment to complete this beauty.

My final card is for the happy couple and representing a beautiful colorful wedding cake with that background stamp again for some wedding lace.

Voila! You too can make wedding cards! Unity Stamps has only a few true wedding stamp sets, but as you can see here and throughout our hop, there are so many sets that can certainly be used for a wedding or bridal shower too! Thinking of You-Coffee Card

Hi all! Whew! What a month! So many of us crafters just finished up an intense couple weeks of making coffee projects for the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop to enter to win over 85 crafty prizes up for grabs. They only do this twice a year and it’s super HUGE and so much fun! I submitted 8 projects and I recognized several of you on the winners list and I won too! It’s super fun to enter challenges and it’s even more fun to win! Right? Who won and what did you win? Share with us in comments!

I love to challenge myself to use different products, different techniques, or just make myself finish a project that same day, which can be a challenge for me sometimes, because I’m easily distracted or I procrastinate. (lol)

Most of my coffee projects were added over on my Instagram page, where you can see more inspiration, but this card was one of my favorites. It has my favorite morning drink, plus it got mailed to my daughter last week, so I can finally share it here and do a quick tutorial too! It's a great stamp for many occasions from Mother's Day, Birthdays, Anniversary, Wedding, Graduation, Thank You and more!

I started with printing a “free” digital stamp from Super Sponsor Stamplorations on white cardstock from my home printer. Not too thick, because my printer is fussy, it's about 65lb and just a plain ol’ HP laser printer. But I read somewhere to let your images dry/cure overnight before you color them, so the image doesn’t bleed or smear when you color it. So, I printed a bunch of digi’s one day and let them sit for about week, purely by accident. But no smears!

I colored my image with just a few alcohol markers (colors listed below) and cut it out with a stitched oval die using a die cutting machine. It was too stark, so I inked the edges with distress ink using a fabulous blending brush and adhered to a hot pink piece of cardstock and set aside.

This was a big image and I wanted to use it all. So, I folded a piece of 8.5x11” kraft cardstock in half and trimmed it down to approx. 5.5 x 7" as the finished card base. Adhered a piece of soft green polka dot patterned paper down to the card base. Then adhered the coffee image panel to the green panel. Stamped a sweet sentiment and added three colors of bakers twine to complete this beauty. Isn't she pretty??? I can't wait to try different color combos!
