Hi Everyone! I'm excited to share with you my first Blog Hop sponsored by May Arts Ribbon & CardMaker. We were tasked to create something with gorgeous May Arts Ribbon with a Valentine's theme. This Blog Hop will give you a jump on tons of ideas to make for all your loved ones for the upcoming Valentine's Day, Anniversaries, Birthday's, and so much more. For this Hop, I created an A2 sized card from red cardstock, punched out several hexagon pieces, used shiny red metallic foil, and created this beautiful heart from this gorgeous adhesive rose ribbon. Click the pictures above for more instructions and see below for materials list and blog hop.

Thank you for all your kind words and support these past years I've been blogging and creating online. I truly appreciate it! I always make my own cards and send it homemade from the heart. A phone call or an email is fine, but my mother and grandmother always hand wrote thank you cards and I've always carried that tradition onto my kids. So, I have them each write a few sentences to thank everybody for their presents. Do you make your own thank you cards after the Holidays or do you get a box from the store? Whichever way, it's important to say "thank you."
Happy Halloween! What are you doing tonight? Are you going out or staying in? My kids are dressing up and I'm taking them out trick or treating. I'll probably put on my witches hat and tag along. Then we'll watch some semi-scary movies, eat popcorn, and probably some candy too.
In honor of my mother-in-law I thought I'd share her birthday card with you. Yes, her birthday is today, on Halloween. Isn't that cool? I just love making her a card every year, because she loves everything Halloween. And I do too! So, I can really be creative and have fun with her cards... Happy (almost) Halloween! Do you make Halloween cards? I do sometimes, as it's one of my favorite holidays and I have TONS of Halloween stamps. But I have LOTS of birthdays between September and April that I make birthday cards for. So I don't usually have time to make any, but I did squeeze in this lovely spooky card.
I love creating one of a kind backgrounds and this one definitely reminded me of a spooky night with the fog creeping in. I recommend using a watercolor paper when using watercolor inks, markers, crayons, pencils, or blending with water. Because it's absorbent, it won't buckle, or pill when you are blending or adding more water... Happy Birthday, Dad! As promised, lots of Fall birthday cards coming your way! Not that you can tell from this picture, but I started with a kraft colored card base. I painted a strip of the top and bottom of the card and a button with a gold paint pen. To make it shimmer like Fall.
On a piece of white cardstock I stamped one of my favorite SU (retired) leaf stamps, from the Fall Whimsy set. Sorry, gotta use what you have. But you can still find this set online. I combined the leaf stamp with a script stamp from Penny Black, and a sentiment stamp, to create this unique stamped image layered upon a one of a kind watercolor background. See complete instructions for this stamping, masking, and watercolor techniques in the Autumn 2015 issue of CardMaker Magazine. Supplies: Kraft and white cardstock; Carta Bella Autumn 6x6 pattern paper pad; Krylon gold paint pen; Stampin up stamps-Fall Whimsy (retired); Doodlebug button; twine; Versamark clear ink; Orange embossing powder (Ranger or Zing); Tim Holtz mini dye ink pads: rusty hinge, dried marigold, scattered straw; and glue dots. Shared this card on: Skip to my Lou-Made by you Mondays I'm a mom of one daughter and three sons and I get tickled pink when I get to make cards for girls. This adorable card is a throwback to Stampin' Up and I dug out some retired stamps that are still my favorites. For this adorable card I used itty bitty background stamps with versamark clear ink to create a unique soft background. Tied ribbon around a strip of polka dot pattern paper and adhered to card panel. Used the crib notes stamp set for the pig and sentiment, which I stamped with versafine onyx black, colored in with SU watercolor markers, and added an adorable tiny button for the nose. I recommend glue dots for adhering buttons or you can use a button brad. Punch out the pig and matching pink circle and adhered to pink panel. Take the whole pink panel and adhere to teal card base and add some random stickles diamond glitter glue to some polka dots for sparkle. See what you can do with buttons and get those stamps out and play!
I entered this card in: The Crafters Cafe Challenge: #127 - Use Some Buttons - 29 July, 2015 Sun, sea, and sand is the theme for this weeks challenge and I don't know about you, but I LOVE being on the water. And I"m lucky my hubby's a nautical person, so I make a lot of "boat" type cards for him. I used this wonderful SU stamp set to set the tone. I could have added a lot more color and bling to this, but I wanted to keep it simple and natural and let the plaid pattern paper pull the colors together. And used my copic markers to color some pastel button brads a brownish rust color. I love using alcohol markers to change the colors of gems, pearls, brads, and metal embellishments to name a few. I hope you're enjoying your summer and get out on the water too!
I entered this card in: 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge: 4 CC #256 {Sun, Sea and Sand!} Clean and Simple or CAS is the theme for this next Challenge. I've been dying to use this (retired) medallion stamp from SU and create a bunch of all occasion cards. Isn't this a gorgeous stamp? I just love it.
I picked a pad of 6x6 pattern paper that had blue and yellow, I think this one is by Theresa Collins. It looks very nautical, don't you think? Then I got out my favorite Ranger Tim Holtz mini inks and made a whole bunch of these cards in all kinds of colors. I kept it simple and just added a few adhesive pearls, blue waterfall colored stickles glitter glue for some sparkle, of course, an American Crafts polka dot ribbon, and a sweet Pebbles die cut chip sentiment to finish it up. I made eight of these cards in a rainbow of colors in just a couple hours and you can too! I entered this card in: 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge: 4CC #255 - Clean and Simple or CAS Patriotic is the theme to get ready for Independence Day! What are your plans? Do you love barbeque's with friends and family? Fireworks? Or a quiet day at home? Whichever it is, enjoy your independence and celebrate! For this card the BoBunny paper really shined...
I made 50 of these all occasion cards, in the same layout, but with different colors, patterns, buttons, ribbon, and fruit. There were strawberries, lemons, oranges, cherries, and grapes. See below and my Gallery for more card ideas. It's a very simple all occasion card for those moments you need a card. See what you can make with stamps and buttons for a great monochromatic look for any occasion.

I made two different versions of this nautical card for my Dad and my husband who both love boats and the water. I kept it simple and flat for mailing and just used scraps for the banners.

When I saw this stamp from Eat Cake Graphics of Hank (the dog) riding on his Hoover vacuum, I knew I wanted a banner behind him announcing the occasion...
Sophie Willoughby has a card for her Mom for Mother’s Day. When I saw this adorable stamp from Eat Cake Graphics Stamps it had a letter addressed to Santa. Which would be cute for Christmas or a Birthday card too! But I wanted to mask it and make it a card for Mother’s Day...
Abagail is an adorable stamp from Eat Cake Graphics. When I saw her I knew I wanted to use her for a Mother’s Day card. What little kid doesn’t remember baking or cooking something for their moms? And this cute stamp can be used for many occasions...

April Color Challenge: Black, White & 1 Other Color! (click here for more info) This month they are focusing on color. Black, White, and one other color of your choice and that's it, just three colors. And yes, black and white count as colors. Create 1 or 2 projects that are cards, layouts, home decor, or anything that is homemade by you... Here is my very first card for Eat Cake Graphics Stamps and I'm pretty excited to share it with you all. I knew when I saw this stamp I wanted to do something for Easter. I just love Mr. Bun in his speedy little basket racing to get some jellybeans. It just made me laugh and reminded me of my four kids racing to see what the Easter bunny left them...
My daughter turned 25yrs old last week...yes...it's true! It's hard to believe that a quarter of a century has gone by. So, I wanted to share with you the lovely 25th birthday card I made for her to commemorate this grand day! She was born on the first day of Spring, it was 70 degree's that day and snowing 10 days later. Twenty five years later it's the same weather. It was warm and sunny last week and snowing today. That's Spring in Colorado!
See below for tutorial... Do you sometimes need cards fast? Do you make thank you cards? Come see how I took one 12x12 sheet of pattern paper and turned it into six "thank you" cards. I learned from my Mom and my Grandmother at a young age that it's important to take the time to thank people with a written note. I still do that, usually with a handmade card. I have since passed that etiquette down to my four kids and hope they carry it onto their children. Yes, sometimes they moan and groan (as 3 of them are boys), but I hope they are learning why gratitude is important. Once you have all your card fronts attached you can add little touches. I added some sparkle on the center trees with a glitter pen. Added some flower embellishments to keep it kind of flat for mailing. Stamp sentiment on the outside and inside. In one hour or less you can have six cards made in no time. I had to make more than six cards so I used a few sheets from the matching MME 6x6 paper pad too. If you pick really detailed pattern paper, this makes it look like it took you a week to stamp it all. I always look for a deal on my craft products and usually save 50% or more on whole collections, so everything matches. See below where you too can get daily deals posted to Facebook, Pinterest, or Twitter. Have fun! ~Kim Supplies:

When you use pattern papers together in similar color families, or theme, they coordinate nicely. As I did with orange and black...
Happy Birthday lil' Sister!
Yes, our Fall birthday's continue. I love Fall A LOT and usually make everybody cards with a Fall theme, but for my sister this year I wanted to do something different. One of her favorite colors is purple, so this is me, going all out for purple...see tutorial below... This is the card I made for my mom. Happy Birthday mom! I have loved this stamp set for a while now and I finally made a card with it. As with a lot of our supplies, we "collect" them and don't use them right away. So, I've been challenging myself every month to pick a stamp set I haven't used and make something. Next month I will show you my Christmas card I'm making with a stamp I've never used. I challenge you to do the same and USE your crafts! Sorry, this stamp set and printed paper is discontinued, but you might find it on eBay or Amazon. But you can still use other types of Fall printed paper or other sunflower stamps to recreate this card. It's a great design for any occasion any time of the year. Supplies: Bo Bunny "Forever Fall" pattern paper Bazzill black and white cardstock Close to my Heart "Friendship Bouquet" stamp set Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Twig" Stampin Up watercolor crayons H2O brush Crafty Secrets clear art stamps "Grand Greetings" Fiskars leaf border punch Ranger stickles "icicle" glitter glue American Crafts twine button Glue Dots micro Tombow MONO Adhesive Permanent runner 5" x 7" finished card I entered this card in: Little Red Wagon-Challenge #297 ~ Birthday Theme The Paper Girl's 82nd Challenge: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Do you thank your kids teachers? I do. As the school year winds down to it's final days, I reflect back on the year. I like to thank my kids teachers for all their efforts and hard work. Just a little something to show our appreciation. I love all the different school papers and tools out there I can play with to come up with something simple, but nice. Supplies: DCWV school themed paper pack, red twine, Stampin Up sentiment stamps, $1 apple punches from Michaels, EK Success border punch (I love this punch, looks like school paper edges), red gems, and red glitter pen. Finished card is A7. I promised I'd show you the NFL Denver Broncos Birthday card for a super bowl birthday party this weekend. It turned out really good. I surprised myself and had the right orange and blue Bazzill cardstock. LOL. Here are some of the tools I used: Xyron sticker maker for the navy Pebbles ribbon, spellbinders label frames, stampin up ink, Ranger distress ink, eyelets and the crop-a-dile (LOVE this tool), versamark ink, and chestnut brown zing embossing powder for the "happy birthdays" on the front. Go Broncos!
Don't hate me...this is my view. I get inspired every time I look at the mountains. I just love the trees all fluffy with snow, the sun is shining, and not a cloud in the sky. Gorgeous! I just want to stay in my pj's, craft, and make hot chocolate. I'm working on a NFL Bronco birthday card today for one of the grandma's turning 70yrs young this weekend. It's turning out pretty good. I'll post it when I'm done...later today. There is another snow storm coming in tonight, so where ever you are....stay safe and warm! |
