I joined this amazing team 3 years ago and have been inspired and challenged every month and have made life long friendships!

Before I get started... here's an update on my life, if you've been following me or not, we're still renovating a new house and I'm hopeful to move in by the Spring. Who knows?!? I'm hopeful. I've stopped asking my husband when, as we've had several delays and set backs.
It will happen when it happens.
I'm still in limbo with my crafting products split between two houses, which has made crafting a challenge. But because this months theme is CAS,
I was able to carve out some time and join the crafty fun this month!

Our theme for January is... CAS = Clean and Simple!!!
Fun, right? Well, if you know me or follow me, then you know I love patterned paper, lots of layers, and bling. So CAS is very challenging for me and not typical of what I usually make. But because my supplies are split between two houses right now, I gave it a whirl with what I had on my desk, and this is what I came up with. If I can do it, anyone can!

I kept asking myself "what is CAS?" "What is it really?" "What does it mean to me?" And then I'd add something (lol). So I looked up some CAS Rules and found these on several CAS Challenge sites and this is what I followed:
Clean and Simple (CAS) Definition:
*One main image
*Lots of open space (uncluttered)
*Limited layers & embellishments
*Keep it Simple
*Quick & easy to recreate

Let's Get Started...

Card #1: Coffee... you're my favorite, duh!
I used three layers, because I'm easing myself into the CAS concept here, by using just 3 simple layers. (lol) I cut my 8.5"x11" white cardstock long ways, where my card folds at the top and opens at the bottom to get this look.
And on all my projects today I am using all Unity stamps I've never used before... that's one of my goals this year, is to use "new to me" or never used stamps! What are your crafting goals this year?

Supplies: Unity Stamps: Coffee side by side and Whit's Words sentiment set. Other Supplies: Brutus Monroe Lunchbag (kraft) Cardstock; Papertrey Ink 110lb white cardstock; MISTI Stamping Tool; VersaFine Clair ink-Pinecone; Spectrum Noir red alcohol marker; crinkled vintage ribbon; Scor-tape (tear tape double sided adhesive) by Scor-Pal

Card #2: All Bundled Up... brrr it's been COLD in the South!
I used two layers on this card, because I can't not use any layers yet! (lol) But it's getting less! That's pretty simple for me, but I'm determined to get even more CAS. Lets see if I can do it...

I only used 2 stamps from the same stamp set to keep it simple. And here is a close up of the Diamond Stickles glitter glue on the snowflakes, for a touch of sparkle, with less mess. Love it!

Supplies: Unity Stamps: In the Meadow. Other Supplies: Papertrey Ink 110lb white cardstock and light blue; MISTI Stamping Tool; Ranger Ink Distress Oxide Ink-Faded Jeans and Diamond Stickles (glitter glue); Big Shot die cutting machine; Gina Marie Stitched Rectangle Dies; Scor-tape (tear tape double sided adhesive) by Scor-Pal

Card #3: Where Your Peeps Are
I used two layers here with more open space, and getting more CAS, for me. Don't you think?
I could make a bunch of these and send to friends or family, just to say "hello," so cute!

Card #4: Sent With Love
OMGoodness I did it!!! I can't believe it, but I only used ONE layer here, with some open space, and only bakers twine as an embellishment and NO bling! That's pretty BIG for me to do! And it's cute, right?
Again I cut my cardstock long ways, but turned the card to fold on the left and open on the right. I can make a bunch of these for Valentines Day or any lovey dovey day! It's a cute itty bitty set.

Supplies: Unity Stamps: Do Not Bend itty bitty set. Other Supplies: Papertrey Ink 110lb white cardstock; MISTI Stamping Tool; Ranger Ink Distress Oxide Inks-Picked Raspberry and Candied Apple; AC red/white bakers twine.

I love all your cards and so impressed that you create in the midst of house renovations! I felt exactly the way you wrote about CAS but am finding out how much I love this look. Your coffee card is my favorite. I love the simplicity of the color palette and the ribbon and seriously everything about it!

All of your cards are great, and I love that you are really trying to adopt a new style. CAS is hard - so tempting to try to fill that empty space. If I had to pick a fave, I'd pick the snowman card, because I'm still in the mood for the holiday season!

Ha... I giggled outloud as the 1st card pretty much stretched every single rule a bit from what you looked up for CAS. Ha. The progression was so fun watching the criteria bloom. I got a lot of fun ideas here thanks. These are amazing considering Your Limbo, which I think means ..Living ..In ..Moving ..Box ..Order. Great cards. Happy New Year!

annnd, I struggle with CAS cards, I make everything too hard, but that comes with personalizing each one I think. My goal is to not let time press me to send a card most always last last minute. I'm so bad with last minute frenzy. Sooo CAS would solve this too. annnd to read the copter question before commenting so I dont have to talk to myself here. Ha. Happy New Year!

CAS cards are difficult for me at times because the thought of committing to a design that can be covered up is nerve wracking! That balance between enough and too much is one that plagues us all I think. As for your cards, I love them! My favorites are the coffee design and the row of envelopes. Simple statements that are "just enough"!

Yes, a CAS card is hard for me!! Not that I embellish a whole lot, but I do love layers and sequins & such. All of your cards are lovely, my friend. I love the first one's design and the kraft cs with the torn edge. I also would like to use stamps I have, but have never used - I have tons!!

Kim, I love all of these, but my absolute favorites are the first card and the card with the repeated stamping of the envelope. I love the layout of the first card. I'm going to have to give it a go and the envelope card iso sweet.
