Next I created my background on white water color paper by tapping dye ink directly onto an acrylic stamping block, spritzing with water, and smoosh the block onto the water color paper. A thin piece of acrylic paper would work too, just a little harder to hold onto. Repeat a couple times so you have plenty of backgrounds to choose from. Let dry.
As you can see, I chose a background that has some natural sky and ground covering separation. Kind of reminds of the yellow brick road. Don't you think?
Stamp "Lucky" the bird onto the watercolor paper using pigment ink, sprinkle black embossing powder, and heat set the image. Stamp clovers in the background with dye ink. And color "Lucky" and some of the clovers directly by dipping my H2O brush (or any thin paint brush) into the ink pad and onto the images.
Once dry. Add a little sparkle to some of the clovers and "Lucky's" hat with a glitter pen. Then die cut the colored image and a piece of brown patterned paper with stitched circles, adhere to each other, and to the card. Add sequins and gems for a touch more bling to complete.
I hope I've inspired you to try water color "smooshing" backgrounds and get out your Spring colors and play. May the luck of the Irish be with you this week and always! Thanks for stopping by!
