Hi everybody! As a card maker we're always working several months ahead. So, whether you celebrate Valentines Day, Galentines Day, Love, Friendship, etc...there are people in your life you care about and should tell them or show them some love any time of year. And today I'm sharing a "hugs" card I've been working on that you can make lots of these in a flash and share for Valentines, Birthdays or Mother's Day cards too!

My project today uses up a lot of scraps I've been hoarding, I mean collecting. Ha! And comes together fairy easily without using a lot of supplies. I started with an A2 (5 1/2 x 4 1/4") kraft cardstock base. Cut this darling plaid patterned paper 5 1/2 x 2 1/8" and adhered to card base.
Using my MISTI stamping tool, I lined up the "hugs" stamp where I wanted it, stamped using veramark clear ink first, cleaned the stamp, then re-inked the stamp with candied apple distress ink, and stamped over the top of the versamark ink. I removed the card from the MISTI, because embossing powder is messy and will go everywhere. Then sprinkled the stamped sentiment with clear embossing powder and heat set to create this big, bold, dark embossed sentiment.
Tip: The fun about embossing ink and powders is you can do it in several different combinations. My go to is style is usually clear pigment ink and colored powders. I love to collect all the pretty colors and metallic's too! But you can also do colored pigment ink and clear powder. Or colored pigment ink and colored powder. But I've been playing with this colored dye ink, clear pigment ink, and clear powder combo, that I used above.
Or you could just stamp "hugs" in red ink and skip heat embossing altogether and that would look great too! I'm a big fan of using what you've got, so look around, be creative, and see what you can use.

Next I selected several different scraps of patterned paper and created 4 banners. But you could use punches or die cuts, but I just cut 4 strips and fussy cut the ends with scissors and adhered to the card base. Easy Peasy!
Then using my Big Shot machine I die cut this adorable banner out 3 times. Once for the red cardstock base, and two other times using scraps to get the different heart cut outs from pattern paper. I love this banner, because of the many different combinations you can create with it. It's just darling and one of my favorites. But again, you could easily use heart punches or other heart dies to create a similar look too!

Next choose your banner combination and adhere scrap hearts. Then thread the twine through each banner piece, as it conveniently has holes at the top of each piece, which makes it super easy. I tied each end with a knot and adhered banner to card using foam tape for dimension. Add some red adhesive heart gems for sparkle to complete this darling card.
And Voila! There you have a super easy card that recycles your pretty patterned scraps. Now let's see what you can make. I love challenges to stretch my imagination, inspires me to use my products, or use them in new ways. And maybe win some fabulous prizes along the way and you can too!
