The Crafters Cafe Challenge: #127 - Use Some Buttons - 29 July, 2015
I'm a mom of one daughter and three sons and I get tickled pink when I get to make cards for girls. This adorable card is a throwback to Stampin' Up and I dug out some retired stamps that are still my favorites. For this adorable card I used itty bitty background stamps with versamark clear ink to create a unique soft background. Tied ribbon around a strip of polka dot pattern paper and adhered to card panel. Used the crib notes stamp set for the pig and sentiment, which I stamped with versafine onyx black, colored in with SU watercolor markers, and added an adorable tiny button for the nose. I recommend glue dots for adhering buttons or you can use a button brad. Punch out the pig and matching pink circle and adhered to pink panel. Take the whole pink panel and adhere to teal card base and add some random stickles diamond glitter glue to some polka dots for sparkle. See what you can do with buttons and get those stamps out and play!

Happy 19th Anniversary to my perfect frog! Because I did kiss a lot of frogs before I found my perfect frog. I love you! I paired these two adorable Eat Cake Graphics stamps together to create an Anniversary card, even if they'd go really well for Halloween. It's fun to stretch your imagination and use your stamps for other occasions too. And I love frogs, so I had to use a lot of them. The pink and green prints go really well together. Doilies are all the rage these days and I love these polka dot ones from Doodlebug made a nice background. I colored the stamp images with Copic markers and made them sparkly with a rainbow of glitter pens. I stamped Toad sister three times and cut out two extra frogs and an extra wizard’s hat and adhered to card. Get your "other" holiday stamps out and see what you can make.

**Click the links for dates and info in your state** Sun, sea, and sand is the theme for this weeks challenge and I don't know about you, but I LOVE being on the water. And I"m lucky my hubby's a nautical person, so I make a lot of "boat" type cards for him. I used this wonderful SU stamp set to set the tone. I could have added a lot more color and bling to this, but I wanted to keep it simple and natural and let the plaid pattern paper pull the colors together. And used my copic markers to color some pastel button brads a brownish rust color. I love using alcohol markers to change the colors of gems, pearls, brads, and metal embellishments to name a few. I hope you're enjoying your summer and get out on the water too!

Are you thinking about Christmas cards yet? I'm at the thinking stage still. I search Pinterest for ideas and several craft groups on Facebook. Then I'll start about Sept/Oct. Are you working on those holiday or vacation albums while you have some extra time this summer? I made a mini album to document one our favorite memories of carols, dinner, and hot coco on the "Santa Train" at Christmas time through our beautiful mountains. It was just precious to see them write out wish lists and see their faces when Santa arrived and visited with each child and picked up all their lists.
For more info on the Santa Train click "here." I found this album by Making Memories and it was a recipe book album. So, I bought two. One for our favorite family holiday recipes and the other to make this adorable album. I used a combination of Doodlebug Christmas and BoBunny North Pole and Blitzen Collections of pattern paper and die cuts. The colors and patterns worked really well together. Added just a few gems and train stickers throughout to remind you, we were on a train. With a touch of journaling to tell each pages story. I just love how it turned out. I entered this in: CraftySteals Third Thursday CHRISTMAS IN JULY Challenge! Clean and Simple or CAS is the theme for this next Challenge. I've been dying to use this (retired) medallion stamp from SU and create a bunch of all occasion cards. Isn't this a gorgeous stamp? I just love it.
I picked a pad of 6x6 pattern paper that had blue and yellow, I think this one is by Theresa Collins. It looks very nautical, don't you think? Then I got out my favorite Ranger Tim Holtz mini inks and made a whole bunch of these cards in all kinds of colors. I kept it simple and just added a few adhesive pearls, blue waterfall colored stickles glitter glue for some sparkle, of course, an American Crafts polka dot ribbon, and a sweet Pebbles die cut chip sentiment to finish it up. I made eight of these cards in a rainbow of colors in just a couple hours and you can too! I entered this card in: 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge: 4CC #255 - Clean and Simple or CAS Sun, surf, and sailing all remind me of summer. And I don't know about you, but I LOVE being on the water. For this "beach" themed challenge I combined sailing with the beach boardwalk. Doesn't it look like those planks on the dock? I used this adorable sailboat stamp and added some bling with glitter pens and adhesive gems, cut out with my wavy decorative scissors, and inked the edges. Inked a blue streak down the middle of this boardwalk pattern paper by "My Minds Eye-on the bright side" to mimic water. Then popped it up for some dimension. Added this adhesive burlap star and American Crafts natural twine. I usually leave my cards blank inside, but this was for my hubby, so I can show you. I found this free quote "here" that fit perfectly, printed it in color on white cardstock on my printer, cut it out with wavy decorative scissors, and matted on blue cardstock. Happy Anniversary! I always make thank you cards after the holidays and I made this adorable card for the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown and just love this little snowman easily made with just punches. I started with a snowflake embossed background, added a snowflake brad, and adhered to card base. I tore white cardstock, inked it up, and added some stickles glitter glue for some sparkle, adhered to card and stamped sentiment. Punch out three circles (2", 1.5", and 1") for the body, a 1 1/4"
square punch for the hat, and a snowflake punch for the arms and popped up the body for dimension. Added some ink and stickles, an adorable face, and a colorful scarf. Hope your staying cool, drink lots of water, and please keep your dogs and kids safe this summer. The Crafter's Cafe Challenge: # 126 - Christmas in July - 22 July, 2015 I love hot air balloons. So, when I saw this next challenge I was inspired. And remembered this Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante paper collection with the blueprint sketch balloons, die cuts, and frames that all coordinate. I love all the different things in flight: the wings, the airplane, the wings on the dress form, and the winged goddess. I started with DCWV metallic green cardstock and embossed with Quickutz strips & dots folder. Layered all the pieces and added a few eyelets, thickers ornate sticker, stickles glitter glue on the wings, and a spiral paper clip with a white and gold ribbon for a touch of sparkle. A great card with NO stamping!
I entered this card in: LItte Red Wagon Challenge #300 - Up, Up and Away! The House That Stamps Built: WIW Photo Inspiration Challenge ~ J1515 After four boys a friend of mine FINALLY had a baby girl!!! Yes, baby #5! Congratulations! As a mom of one daughter and three sons, I get it. And I rarely get to make girl cards. So, when I do, they tend to be frilly and pink, but this one I wanted a sweet vintage look. I got out my Slice machine, yep, I still have one and still love it. It's light and portable and can do tons of quick cuts, titles, numbers, etc... I used the baby slice design cards for the onsies and the number die cuts; pink baby DCWV pattern paper; a soft eyelet border punch; inked the edges in a soft chestnut ink; adhered to a kraft colored base card; and finished with a soft ribbon and button.
I entered this card in: The Paper Girls Challenge #83 - Babies! It's summertime and LOTS of babies are being born. I made this simple baby boy card with just white and blue with layered circles stamped with white ink; polka dot pattern paper; buttons colored with copic makers to mimic woodgrain; a "welcome, baby sentiment stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink; a sweet border punch; and a printed ribbon to finish it up.

The House That Stamps Built-DCC78 ~ White Plus One Color This weeks Challenge is "no stamping." Can you do it? Yes, you can! I dug deep into my Graphic 45 stash ( I think this is Steampunk Debutante) and found this lovely flowery pattern paper frames and die cuts and did some layering. When your colors coordinate, the patterns will too. Add an ornate touch using just the top of a dry folder embossing, thickers green sticker die cut, and these cool peachy pink metal paper clip circle embellishments. A little dab of stickles glitter glue in her hair for just a touch of bling! Voila!
A spectacular card with "no stamping." I entered this card: 4 Crafty Chicks No Stamping 4CC #253 I'm published...again!!!
