Happy April! It’s Spring, isn’t it? Well...Mother Nature is still playing tricks on us, as we just had 7-10” of snow on Tuesday that caused a snow day for schools and today its 70 degrees. But that’s spring in Colorado for ya. CRAZY! And it’s only been a week into April and I’ve been making projects and birthday cards like crazy and just realized Easter is Sunday, April 16th too. Yikes! But I’ve still got time to make and mail cards and you do too!

So, today I’m sharing my adorable peeps card that was published in CardMaker Magazine last spring, but I never posted it. Sorry! April showers bring May flowers, except in CO...mother nature tends to toy with us and extend winter until the end of May. And it's been wet and cooooold! But that didn't spoil my Spring surprise for my Mom with this flowery card I made. Click "read more" for tutorial and materials list...

Original card pictured in CardMaker Magazine Winter 2015

Peace on Earth is my wish for all mankind! I'm done with my holiday cards and all are in the mail. So, I can share with you my final Christmas card. I scanned my original that was published earlier this year and complete materials list and step by step instructions are available here in CardMaker Magazine. The scan came out more periwinkle than baby blue, but it goes pretty good with the snowflake border I chose. See the picture below and you'll see what I mean.
I uploaded my scan to Vistaprint and saved a bunch of time and money. And they included envelopes and address labels too. They are awesome at printing, discounts, and customer service. I use them all the time.

I added a glittery silver poinsettia and a blue rhinestone to the center for some dimension. And tied a silver cord ribbon to make it complete. I think it turned out pretty nice.

The inside card pictured below was already gray with snowflakes and added the text I wanted. I always have each family member sign every card for our special touch.

Hello Fall Card

Hello Fall and Happy Thanksgiving. If you make cards or not for the holidays, you still have time to mail them or pass them out at the family feast. I encourage you to embrace the gorgeous fall stamps that are out on the market everywhere right now. The aspen leaf is synonymous with Colorado and I had to use it. This gorgeous stamp is from a locally owned stamp store Holly Berry House Originals and I just love them. The sweetest most generous people you'll ever meet and the most precious store full of nick knacks, needlepoint, yarn, gifts galore, and oh yeah--the most gorgeous stamps I've ever seen...

Peace on Earth-Published Card

Yippee!!!! Once again I'm excited to share that I'm published with this gorgeous holiday card. I know it's Fall around here, but aren't you thinking about Christmas or holiday cards yet? As a card maker it's never too early, because we have to plan time to design, create, and assemble all the parts that go into a handmade card. I think about it all year long. I gather products, pin ideas, go to shows, shop, and organize supplies until about August or September. And everything is kept together in a tote bag until I"m ready to start stamping and cutting.

Then I take a day and play. I get out all the stuff from the tote bag and figure out what I want to use and how I want my card to look like. I don't know about you, but I can't just whip this up in a day. It's quite a process. But I think this one just might be my 2015 Christmas card. What do you think? I can scan it, print it, and maybe add a ribbon and it's done!

I'm so excited to share my second card published in the Autumn 2015 issue of CardMaker Magazine, but you'll have to subscribe to get a materials list and all the instructions to make this yourself. Sorry! But it's totally worth it!!! And pictures don't do this card justice. It's three stamps set in a super shiny gold metallic embossing powder that reminds me of the golden colors of Fall.

The digital copy of the magazine is available now and if you are a subscriber you can login "here" and see the whole beautiful magazine now. I'm published...again!!! I'm sooooooooo excited to share the news with you that CardMaker Magazine selected four of my cards for their Autumn 2015 issue. The digital copy of the magazine is available now and if you are a subscriber you can login "here" and see the whole beautiful magazine now. The paper issue will be mailing mid July. Go see your copy now...100 pages of gorgeous Fall and Halloween ideas and projects to get started on.

Craft Rejection, Perseverance, & Joy

It has been a long journey of determination, but not without its constant amount of rejection, failure, upset, and defeat. I vowed last January 2014 that I was going to make one of my dreams come true by having my art published in a magazine. Every month I’d make one of kind creations to submit. Sometimes I’d submit to two magazines in the same months, so double the projects, but they had to be different projects. The deadlines were brutal in my house. I became a crazy person at deadline time. Everything stopped at the house. No laundry was done, no dishes done, and we’d eat out because my projects took over the dining room table. Every month for the last eleven months I was gracefully rejected with no constructive feedback. It was hard. I never knew why I wasn't chosen...
