Hi everybody! Welcome back to Day 2, of my Growing in Unity week, that will be filled with fun and inspiring Unity projects using some of my favorite things I'm finding as I'm packing up my craft room, to move into my new house next month. Let the crafty adventures continue...
Today's project is inspired by a southern tradition of slow sipping on your porch, which is something I can embrace (lol). So I made my card look like an Arnold Palmer southern drink, which is half tea and half lemonade. And if you know me, I like a splash of vodka in mine. (lol). What's your favorite beverage?

I used the "Happiness is Homemade" stamp set by the amazing Graciellie Design for Unity to create this fun card.
It's so great for many occasions.
Along with some of my favorite things I found while packing up my craft room like: Prismacolor pencils (the waxy kind) with Gamsol blending solution, Goosebumps clear texture spray, ink blending, and pattern paper scraps. Remember those?

Which could be anything! So what inspires me? SO many thing, but I narrowed it down to these:

Nature

It's a new month and I'm continuing with my
"New Years Resolution" to use only "new to me" Unity stamps every month this year, along with some of my favorite things.
So what inspires me?
I am inspired every month by all the fabulous ladies
in this hop, so be sure to follow them too!
I love the whole rainbow of colors, techniques, and
things found in nature.
Here's what I came up with...

Card #1: Beautiful Butterflies
I had this beautiful butterfly set on my desk from last months theme, but I didn't get around to using it. So I thought it would be fun to show you three different techniques using the same set.
The first technique I used is a very simple Copic 101 coloring technique I learned a few years ago from Jen Shurkus on how to color with just 2-3 alcohol markers and how to blend and shade with just a couple markers. As it's easy to get overwhelmed with all the many markers out there, color families, and blending techniques. She really keeps it simple and I like simple too.
Then I die cut a border around the image and ink blended around the edges to soften around the image, added a touch of clear sparkle to a few butterflies, and some embellishments to complete. Such a versatile set that's wonderful for so many occasions.

SUPPLIES: Unity- Endlessly Beautiful Stamp Set and Unity-Rectangles & Scallops Nesting Dies; Big Shot die cutting machine; MISTI stamping tool; Versafine Clair-Nocturne black ink; Ranger Distress Oxide Inks: Faded Jeans; Picket Fence Blender Brush or Scrapbook.com brushes; Copic and Spectrum alcohol markers and SN Clear Sparkle Brush; Spectrum Noir Cardstock; American Crafts bakers twine; Adhesive Glitter Enamel Dots; Papertrey Ink white 110lb cardstock base; Scor-Pal - Scor-Tape (double sided tear tape) at Scrapbookpal.

Card #2: Pink Butterfly
The second technique I used is mostly ink blending around the edges and over some of the butterflies. And I highlighted just one of the butterflies with a couple pink pencils using Prismacolor Pencils and blending it with a clear sparkle brush for some extra bling.
Then added a couple stitched edges, a sentiment, and an adhesive glitter enamel embellishment to complete.

Card #3: Hello Pretty Butterflies
And the third card I used an ink smooshing technique. It's one of my favorite ways to play with ink, as every smoosh is different, and every card is unique with no extra coloring. Then I heat set it to dry or you can leave it over night. And then I fussy cut this bunch of butterflies out.
I dug in my bin of scraps and found this hot pink piece of cardstock that was screaming out for some texture. And I remembered I had a cloud embossing folder. Added the sentiment with distress oxide ink (because it's thick), clear embossing powder, and heat set. Which heat embossing is another technique I love to use. I found a couple more scrap strips and adhered those to the pink panel.
Adhered the bunch of butterflies to the panel, added an adhesive glitter enamel embellishment and added some clear glitter sparkle to a few butterflies for some bling to complete.

Our theme for February is... Paper Piecing!
And if you don't know what 'paper piecing' is, it's a great way to use up your scraps and stamp images on various patterned papers and 'dress' your image. Kind of like 'paper dolls' some of us played with as kids. Fun right!?!
I was inspired by Galentines (Feb 13th), a day to celebrate your girlfriends/gal pals and Valentines Day (Feb 14th)

Card #1: I made this darling snowman card using this adorbaly LARGE snowman stamp. He's huge, like as big as my hand, but so fun to 'dress up" with patterned paper scraps. Which is why I used so many scraps. He's cute for so many lovey dovey occasions, Valentines, Galentines, or anytime!

Our theme for August is... Sympathy!
This is a hard theme to create for, but very meaningful and it's easier to have some made in advance. Some of you know, I lost my little sister to breast cancer, almost 3yrs ago. It was devastating to my family, but the thoughtful cards we received really touched our hearts and I still have them. Thank you!
Because I care, I urge you to get a mammogram early! No matter how old you are, get a base line for your medical history. And don't wait for October either. Just do it now! It could save your life! xoxo

Sympathy cards are hard to make, at times, but they don't have to be the traditional black, white, or gray, even though those are very elegant. I chose to design three different styles with non-traditional colors to give you some ideas that don't take a lot of time or supplies to send your condolences.

Let's get started!
Card #1 has a traditional sentiment on vellum and a pretty light blue lacy embossed panel with some simple embellishments.

Tutorial: I started with an 8.5x11” piece of kraft cardstock, cut in half, which makes two A2 cards. I took one half and folded to make an A2 card base. I started by stamping and heat embossing just the kraft card base, but thought it was too dark for this theme and I wanted to keep it soft and light. So I’ll save that piece for another day. I took the other A2 kraft half I already cut and that will be our card base. I cut and trimmed a light blue piece of cardstock ¼” smaller than our card base. Card #2 uses a thoughtful heat embossed sentiment among this beautiful floral on pretty shades of blue papers and coordinating embellishments.

Tutorial: I started with an 8.5x11” piece of turquoise cardstock, cut in half, which makes two A2 cards. I took one half and folded to make an A2 card base. Because using color on Sympathy cards is ok...really! I personally don’t make them bright, but some color is ok. It’s the thought that counts! Next I cut a piece of plaid patterned paper 3x5.5” and using a die cutting machine, and an edge die, I cut the right side and adhered to the card base. Using my original MISTI, white cardstock, and Memento tuxedo black ink, an alcohol marker friendly ink/cardstock, I stamped this gorgeous floral stamp twice to get a good impression. It’s one of my all time favorite flower stamps. Click or hover on each picture below for more directions…

Card #3 uses pretty coordinating papers and colors in a non-traditional way, with a gorgeous center floral, a heat embossed sentiment, with simple embellishments too!

Tutorial: I started with an 8.5x11” piece of green cardstock, cut in half, which makes two A2 cards. I took one half and folded to make an A2 card base. Next I cut two pieces of coordinating Unity patterned paper 3.75x5.5” and adhered to the card base. Using my original MISTI, white cardstock, and Memento tuxedo black ink, an alcohol marker friendly ink/cardstock, I stamped another beautiful floral stamp twice to get a good impression. Christmas in July Blog Hop + Linky Party + Giveaways

Merry Christmas on July 25th!!! I know it's Summer, but as card makers we are always thinking ahead and don't want to wait until December to make our holiday cards. Because it takes planning, creating, and inspiration. And the holidays will be here before we know it and we only have 4 months!!!

So if you're tired of being stressed out, rushing around trying to make cards, or guilty for not sending out any. Then this Holiday Hop is the perfect inspiration to get those creative juices flowing to help you build your stash. Which means, if you start now, make a few cards a day, you'll have so many cards done and ready to mail. So you can enjoy the holiday season!

For today's project I used two amazing digital stamp sets to create this darling scene using some of my favorite things.

Let's get started...

Tutorial: I started with an piece of black 12x12 cardstock and cut for a 7.5 x 6.25" card base. I made this bigger to frame it and hang in my kitchen at my coffee station during the holidays. But you can totally make this a card in any size and I'll tell you how below. Then I cut a piece of plaid holiday patterned paper 7.25x6" adhered to the card base.

Let's work on the image. The wonderful thing about these digital stamps is you can resize them and mix and match to create whatever scene you want. So, if you make A2 cards or larger, you can. I use this FREE WPS Office document program to copy and paste digital images to be able to layer, move images around, and resize them. It's a really easy program for pc's and macs and more. I love layering and creating new, fun scenes, like this one. See pictures below to continue the tutorial…

I copied and pasted the coffee mug and sentiment from one Christmas set. And the mice, cinnamon sticks, and beans from a Fall set. And lined them up, flipped one of the mice so their facing each other, resized them all on the same 8.5x11" layout. Once I had the images where I wanted them, I grouped them as one piece, saved, and renamed as a “new” document in the same file as my original stamp set, to use again for future use.

Then I printed my image on my HP inkjet printer using the thin brand of HL white cardstock, and colored it with Distress Ink colors shown above, water color pencils, and an H2O brush. Just lightly with very little water, as to keep the color vibrant, and not warp the paper.

Next I trimmed out the image down to 6.5x 5.5" , cut the corners with a corner rounder punch, added a few brown distress dots inked to the edges like coffee stains, and adhered to the card. Added just a touch of bling with a gold glitter pen around the rim of the cup and center of the poinsettia's. And adhered a holiday ribbon on to two opposite corners to keep this card flat for mailing. Or fame it for the holidays, like I plan to do!

Tip: You can certainly make these smaller, A2 size (5.5x4.25") for instance, and group 4 images on one sheet of 8.5x11" white card stock and print four images at a time for mass producing your holiday cards.

Polka Dot Orchard + Birthday Cupcake Card

Hi everybody! TGIF! I'm celebrating Summer with these fun cupcakes I created using digital stamps from ==> Polka Dot Orchard!!! They have many wonderful stamps to choose from and they're ALL ON SALE for 35% off for a limited time!!!

For today's project I knew I wanted to use these fantastic cupcakes, because we all like variety. Right?!? Of course we do! So I combined these three digital stamp sets: Love And A Fabulous Cupcake, Younger Than Tomorrow, and Happy Star (cupcake and sentiment)! And they are yummy enough to eat!

Let's get started...

Tutorial: I started with an piece of blue 12x12 cardstock, cut in half, and folded for a 6x6" card base. And cut a piece of gingham patterned paper 4x 5.5," then used a border punch down the left side, and adhered to the card base.

Let's work on the image. The beauty of these digital stamps is you can resize them. So, if you make A2 cards or larger, you can. I use a FREE WPS Office document program to copy and paste digital images to be able to layer, move images around, and resize them. I love layering and creating scenes. And it’s so fun and easy to do with digital stamps and this free program. See pictures below to continue the tutorial…

Next I copied and pasted the 3 different cupcakes from each set, lined them up, resized them, and copied and pasted the sentiment all on the same 8.5x11" sheet. Once I had the images where I wanted them, I grouped them as one piece, saved, and renamed as a “new” document in the same file as my original stamp set, to use again for future use.

Then I printed my image on my HP inkjet printer using the thin brand of HL white cardstock, because I'm coloring with colored pencils and gamsol for blending today.

Once I finished coloring and blending, I took out my die cutting machine and cut out the cupcake image with a stitched rectangle die. And trimmed out the sentiment and cut the right end into a banner with scissors. Using distress inks, a speckled stencil, and a blending brush, I added some "birthday confetti" to the sentiment and above the cupcakes.

Next I adhered a piece of blue ric rac ribbon down the left side of the card with liquid glue. Then adhered the sentiment and the cupcake image to the card. And added a few adhesive rhinestones to the center cupcake to finish this yummy-licious card!

Polka Dot Orchard Digital Sale + Gnome Patriotic Card

TGIF!!! It's almost officially summer in a couple days and Independence Day in the USA is right around the corner. So I'm celebrating early with this Patriotic slimline cutie I created with digital stamps from ==> Polka Dot Orchard!!! So many wonderful stamps to choose from and they are ALL ON SALE for 35% off right now too!!!

Slimline cards are all the rage these days. You may have seen these tall, long cards, but didn't know they had a name. And many companies, including Polka Dot Orchard are coming out with long "slimline" stamps and some have dies now too! They are long narrow cards that allow for more details on a card and they fit in a #10 business envelope, which measures
4 ⅛ ” x 9 ½." And requires just ONE first class stamp and no extra postage, if not heavy or bulky! Mine of course, would probably take two stamps, because of all that ribbon and some rhinestones! That's worth it for all this wonderfully fun creative space!

Let's get started...

Tutorial: I started with an 8.5” x 11” piece of blue 110lb cardstock, folded long ways for our card base, and trimmed down to 4 1/8" x 9 3/4." Using a fireworks stencil, distress oxide inks, and a blending brush I added several fireworks and yellow stars to the blue card base. And set aside for a moment.
Let's work on the image. I use a WPS Free Office document program to copy and paste digital images to be able to layer, move images around, and resize them. I love layering and creating scenes. And it’s so fun and easy to do with digital stamps and this free program. See pictures below to continue the tutorial…

For today's project I copied 3 girl gnomes and placed them in a pyramid to create my own slimline card. Added and resized the sentiment to fit under the gnomes and added 3 mushrooms in different sizes to create our scene. Once I had the images where I wanted them, I grouped them as one piece, saved, and renamed as a “new” document in the same file as my original stamp set, to use again for future use. I printed my image on my HP printer using X-Press It white cardstock, because it's alcohol marker friendly paper. I was inspired by Independence Day and colored the images with the Spectrum Noir alcohol marker colors shown above.

I thought the gnomie girls would be cute in gray sweatsuit outfits, like we wore at cheer camp (many years ago). Aren’t they cute? I just love them for many occasions! It’s hard to see, but I added a bit of sparkle to their coffee cups and bows with a clear glitter pen and red sparkle on their lips too. Added a touch of white accents on their cheeks and bows with a white distress maker-picket fence (white). Then highlighted some of the sentiment with a coordinating green marker to make it stand out.

I trimmed down the image and decorated the top and bottom with a border punch. Next I used a handmade cloud stencil I created from a border die in my stash, a blending brush, and distress oxide ink to create clouds and a darkening sky for nighttime. But it looked too stark. So I grabbed a speckled stencil, blending brush, and distress oxide ink to add some random green dots to resemble grass. Dug into my bag of ribbon scraps and pulled out red, white, and blue patterned ribbons, trimmed them down and adhered to the back of the image panel. Then adhered the whole piece to the card base. Added a few clear adhesive stars that I colored with a yellow marker to complete this patriotic cutie.

Card #1 is 'Feel the Freedom' stamp kit in Patriotic colors in honor of our upcoming US Independence Day. I wanted to create a card that added color without any actual coloring. As many people struggle with coloring. For this card I used ink splatters and two stencils to achieve this festive fireworks celebration. A wonderful stamp for many occasions and I can't wait to color it up too! So fun!

Tutorial: I started with an 8.5” x 11” red 110lb cardstock, folded in half, for the card base. I’ve been making a lot of “not quite” square cards lately, but larger than the usual A2. So I leave them folded until I have everything else adhered in place, then I trim it down. So, this base will be 5.5” wide. Next I chose two 6x6 pattern papers from the same pad, that I thought resembled a vintage flag, cut them on the diagonal, and trimmed off ¼” from the inside angles to fit, and adhered to the card base. Cut a piece of blue ric rac ribbon and adhered on an angle across the card using liquid glue. Click or hover on pictures below for more directions...

Card #2 is 'Scattered Pieces' stamp kit in bright and cheerful colors using an ''ink smooshing technique" and some glitter pens. That's it! Another great technique using colored inks, but no actual coloring. And I really love the variety of feather stamps and beautiful sentiments that speak to your soul. This one is so uplifting and encouraging to send to friends/family. It's one of my 'new' favorites!

Tutorial: I started with 8.5” x 11” white 110lb cardstock, folded in half, and cut in half, so the top folds down and opens from the bottom, but still an A2 size card base. And set aside for a bit. Using a MISTI stamping tool, I lined up the feather and sentiment on a piece of white watercolor cardstock. And inked them up with Gina K amalgam black ink, because remember it’s a friendly ink with any coloring medium. Then took the stamp out of the MISTI and put it on an acrylic block, inked it up again, and stamped the feather two more times. Then I used a die cutting machine and a stitched rectangle die to cut out the image. Click or hover on the pictures below for more directions...

Card #3 is 'Beauty Beyond Words' and it is a beauty. I can't believe I've never inked it up until now. It just screams "color me," but would be pretty black/white or on kraft too! I'll have to try that next while I still have it out on my craft table. Just wonderful for many occasions and all kinds of coloring mediums too!

Tutorial: I started with 8.5” x 11” light gray 110lb cardstock I had leftover that was cut as an A2 size card base. I love notebook paper, so I cut this light blue piece the same size as the card base, inked the edges with distress oxide ink in faded jeans and blended a bit more around the edges with a blending brush and adhered to the card base. And set aside for a bit. Using a MISTI stamping tool, I lined up the jar and sentiment on a piece of white alcohol marker friendly cardstock. And inked them up with Gina K amalgam black ink again, because it won’t bleed when you color with alcohol markers. Click or hover on the pictures below for more directions...

Card #4 is last, but not least using this fabulous 'Migration of Beauty' border backgrounds stamp two different ways. Along with 'All Smiles' itty bitty stamp inside with the other sentiment from the 'Beauty Beyond Words' set to create this amazing Gate Fold card. Click "here" for more folded card ideas. And when you untie the bow, slip off the belly band, the card opens like a gate, and the inside is revealed...

Theme for May is... our Favorite Angiegirl or guy!
What does that mean? If you are a fan of Unity, you already know. But if you don't know, it's a wonderful line of stamps called Angiegirls or guys by Unity. And it's really hard to choose just one. That's why I've got (3) of my favorites to share with you! Hahaha! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the hop...

Wakely girl was published in Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Fall 2021 issue!

Card #1 is Wakely Girl
She's a confident girl on the move, with books in her bag, and a planner in hand to stay organized or jot down her thoughts. Isn't she stylish? I was inspired by my crafty hop friend, Bobbie Sue, as she did a wonderful monochromatic card "click here" using shades of brown. And I just loved it and really wanted to try it! Here is my version...OH! Don't you just love her boots!?!

Tutorial: I started with a 6x6” plaid patterned paper, trimmed down to about 5x6” and adhered to a kraft card base (not shown). Cut a maroon piece of patterned paper 4x6” and adhere to the card. And cut a piece of rusty brown card stock 2x6” and punched out both long sides with a notebook border punch, cut in half, and adhered to the maroon card panel. Using a MISTI stamping tool I stamped Wakely girl onto white cardstock (alcohol marker friendly) with Versafine Sepia ink and let it dry overnight, but you could heat set it or emboss it too. It’s not usually an alcohol friendly ink, but I find if you let it “cure” overnight or for a few days, it’s been ok to color with and doesn’t bleed or smear. But my Versafine black has smeared. So be careful. Normally I use Gina K Designs Amalgam ink or Catherine Poolers midnight black for any kind of coloring, but I didn’t have those in brown. Use what you’ve got, right? And next I masked the girl using the back paper cover to her stamp and taped it down with purple tape, while using Wakely again, inked up just the text words with Sepia ink, and stamped a few more times down the left side. Using a die cutting machine and a stitched die to cut out the image. These are the Spectrum Noir marker colors I used to color Wakely girl. Then using a blending brush and Distress Oxide Ink-Walnut Stain to blend some ink around Wakely. And using the same ink pad to directly apply ink around the edges. And adhere Wakely to a piece of dark brown cardstock, trim to fit between the notebook border punches. Using the MISTI stamping tool again, stamped the sentiment from the same kit, with Walnut Stain ink on white cardstock. Cut out with a stitched die. And inked around the edges and blended around the words. Adhered just the right side and attached to the card. Add natural twine, slip under the sentiment, and tie in a bow to complete this stylish beauty.

Card #2 is Margaret Girl. She has her favorite party dress on and is ready for any kind of festive occasion! I just love how versatile she is. You will have fun coloring her with many mediums or paper piecing her dress with patterned paper and the balloons too! I was inspired by spring colors, flowers, this pretty Unity paper, and I'm using the ribbon punch again from last weeks GIU card too!

Tutorial: I started with a white piece of 110 cardstock folded in half as our card base (not shown). Cut two pieces of coordinating Unity patterned paper 2x6” and adhered to each end. Cut a piece of blue cardstock 2x6” and cut out with the ribbon border punch. Laced a piece of pink satin ribbon through the blue cardstock, cut the ends and adhered on the back and attached to the card, as shown. Card #3 is Violet Girl. She reminds me of my beautiful daughter. And she is colored in pretty spring colors using colored pencils and one of my favorite rose ribbons. Isn't she pretty?

Tutorial: I started with an A2 (4.25x5.5") 110lb purple cardstock base. And using a die cutting machine, I cut a banner from a banner/fishtale die in this lovely green patterned paper and adhered to the card base. Using my MISTI stamp tool I positioned and centered the sentiment right where I wanted it. Inked the sentiment with Versamark clear ink, sprinkled with white embossing powder, and heat set. Growing in Unity Day 2 + Floral A2 Screen Card

Hi everybody! Welcome back to Day 2 of my Growing in Unity Week, that will be filled with Unity projects, and some of my favorite things, or look what I found in my craft room, because I had time to clean it! (lol)
Today is another oldie, but also a goodie...Do you remember Screen Cards? AKA Screen Dividers, Dividing Screen cards, or Tri-folds, you get the idea. They used to be big too, from a 12x12 piece of cardstock.

For today's project I'm making a Screen card, but as an A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"), so smaller than years past and uses less cardstock. Yay! And I found a large label punch in my stash of tools, which we all probably have, but haven't used in years. And I bet you have one too! Along with a few of my favorites, like tulips, distress oxides, water coloring, tools, and some bling! So, lets make some something ya'll!

Tutorial: I started with an 8.5" x 11" piece of purple 110lb cardstock and cut it in half on the shortest side. Click the pictures below for a step by step on how to make this card...

Now we're ready to decorate our Screen!

I really tried NOT to color today...but this image just screamed for some color! Using a MISTI stamping tool, I had already stamped the imagine and sentiment on regular white cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink (water color friendly ink), but forgot to use watercolor cardstock for todays project. So we're just going for it. You can make it work, if you don't use much water. I used Distress Oxide inks in the colors shown (plus Squeezed Lemonade Reg. Distress Ink and their listed below), with a quick and light watercoloring technique, kind of like flicking, so I wouldn't warp my cardstock. I patted dry with a paper towel and dried between coloring with a heat tool, so I could layer on more color for depth and dimension. The cardstock buckled up a little bit and I just put a big heavy book on it for a couple hours to flatten it out. An iron on a low setting would work too.

Then did a bit more ink smooshing and used the ink splat stamp again, and ink splatters in picked raspberry and wilted violet around the edges of the image, which seems to be a favorite. I like the effect. Once dry, used a corner rounder punch to cut the corners. And went around the edges of the image with picked raspberry ink. Added a bit of red sparkle glitter pen to all the hearts and clear glitter pen to the circles for a bit of bling! Adhered the image to the front of our Screen card. And added a few light pink glitter enamel adhesive dots for more sparkle. Click the pictures below for more step by step directions for the inside of the Screen card.

For the "Angiegirl" in the center of our Screen card, using a MISTI stamping tool, I stamped her on white cardstock, in Versafine Onyx black ink (a watercolor friendly ink). And water colored her the same way I colored the flowers on the front of the card. But I used a few more colors on our lovely girl. She reminds me of my daughter, so I colored her that way. Using Distress Oxide Inks-Hair: Scattered Straw, Rusty Hinge and Walnut Stain; Hoodie: Wilted Violet; Skin: Dried Marigold watered down, and a touch of Picked Raspberry for her lips; and the Butterfly: Regular Distress ink in Squeezed Lemonade and Dried Marigold in Oxide. And colored around the entire Angiegirl with a Spectrum Noir Marker in a light gray #GG1 to highlight her and give her some depth. Hi everybody! I'm Kim Klinkovsky, welcome to Day 1 of my Growing in Unity (GIU) week at my Blog...My Kraft Kloset for a fun filled week of inspiration. It's my happy place, where I share all my crafty adventures, usually fueled by coffee, sweet tea, and probably some chocolate or wine too! I’m a Published Card Maker, Blogger, Social Media Administrator for a couple craft companies, occasional Scrapbooker, Jewelry Maker, Wife to an US Army Veteran for 24yrs, and Mom to 4 kids, one daughter and three sons, including a set of twins. I love all kinds of stamps, pretty paper, tools, getting inky, heat embossing, and sparkle, to name a few things! I’m honored to be a (GIU) Growing in Unity gal this week and I can’t wait to share some of my favorite things with you! Follow along and let’s get crafty!

Tutorial: I started with an 8.5” x 11” light blue 110lb cardstock, folded in half, and trimmed down to 7” x 5.” Then I cut two strips of yellow check patterned papers 3” x 5.” Using a ribbon border punch, cut across both strips, threaded a blue satin ribbon, trimmed, and adhered it on the back. And adhered to the top and bottom of the card base. Using a MISTI stamping tool, I stamped one of my favorite Unity flower stamps, in Distress Oxide Ink-Faded Jeans on white cardstock, sprinkled with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Then stamping with an acrylic block and a splatter stamp, added ink splatters in Distress Oxide inks-Fossilized Amber and Broken China. And added a few more splatters with a paint brush. For today's project I'm bringing back an oldie, but a goodie. Do you remember "inchie" cards? If not, it's where you punch out inch squares of your image and then lay them back down in a grid pattern, as shown above and below. You can use any square, and I used an 1.5" square punch, so my last column was only half a square. But I don't care. It wouldn't have been a complete picture without it. Which made it kind of unique and different. What do you think?

Recently I read a post on the Unity Show and Tell Facebook page that made me sad. One of our members said she wasn’t doing so well at coloring, and she wanted to give up, but that we really inspire her. She sounded a little down, maybe due to what's going on in the world, I’m not sure. I hope she’s okay and doing better. If she’s reading this or if this sounds like any of you: Please know, this isolation and sheltering can be daunting, but you are not alone, and you can talk to me or any of us, anytime! But you Unies stepped up and encouraged her not to give up, and to keep on coloring, and creating. It just warmed my heart! And I hope it cheered her up too! You Unies are so inspiring, encouraging, kind, and supportive of one another. I just love it! It's such a happy place!

And this post inspired me to make a card with NO coloring, just for her! And I encourage you all to "not color" too and see what you can make! I'd love to see it! I love to color, but I’m no expert, and I’m still learning too! And believe me, I’ve had my share of ugly projects that I will NOT be sharing this week. HA! Sorry. Not sorry! (lol). But I do suggest you practice to improve your skills or move onto other mediums and try something new. When this sheltering in place is all over and we can be out and about again, take some classes. Or watch craft videos to learn and practice from too!

Okay...back to today's project...inchie card with ink and tools

Added a touch of sparkle to the center of the flowers with a clear glitter pen. And added blue glitter enamel adhesive dots to complete this “no coloring” project! What do you think? Pretty right? Love Love Love this flower stamp for so many occasions! Now let's see what you can make!

Hi everybody! Kim here, and I hope this finds you all doing well and being inspired by all the crafters posting many creations these past few weeks to entertain and inspire us. On behalf of CAS-ual Fridays Stamps we are celebrating and Sponsoring 'International Women's Day' all month long. March 8th is a day aimed to help nations worldwide eliminate discrimination against women, but as not to leave our guys out...International Men's Day is also celebrated on November 19 each year. But today and all month is to honor and celebrate our wonderful women, women empowerment and sisterhood all around the world!

The idea behind this hop started last year with 10 amazing women card makers who wanted to encourage other women through their crafts. Just a small word of encouragement from fellow women goes a long way and can do wonders. So let us come together and empower our sisters all around the world. Because we're in this together! Wow! Pretty awesome, right? We look forward to building a positive environment with your support.

For today's project: I was inspired by the beauty, spirituality, and sisterhood of our amazing CFS 'Flower Angel' and 'Angel Hugs' stamp sets to create this precious project with water colors, distress inks, die cuts, heat embossing, and some sparkle.

Tutorial: I started with an 8.5x11” yellow 100lb Papertrey Ink cardstock, folded in half, because I’ll trim it down at the end. I cut the left edge off a 4x6” turquoise panel from AC Tropical cardstock, using my die cutting machine with a stitched curvy scallop die from SimonSaysStamp and adhered to the card base. As I was cleaning up my craft desk, I came across some random pieces I had saved from previous projects, as we all do, that got me thinking I could incorporate some of them into this new project. I had a yellow die cut circle and a white cardstock panel that was sprayed with iridescent glimmer mist. So, using a PF blender brush I inked up the yellow circle with some fossilized amber distress oxide ink to make it a little darker and give it some interest. And using my die cutting machine again, I cut a smaller circle, from Gina Marie Designs, in the upper right corner of the white panel, that is smaller than the yellow circle. And using a water brush I added ink splatters in peacock feathers distress ink and fossilized amber oxide ink to match our project. Once dry, adhered the yellow circle to the outside of the panel with Tombow Multi liquid glue to move it in place. And set aside, do NOT attach yet. And I want to say "Thank You" to all of you that have followed my crafty adventures across social media for the last 5 years. I am so blessed beyond words to have made so many great friendships in this amazing craft we all have in common. And I am so incredibly thankful for your continued love, friendships, kindness, and support!
It truly means the world to me and
I thank you very much!

So for this months projects I was inspired by the Fall colors, plaids and leaves, of course, as it's my favorite time of year! And giving thanks in the friendships and beauty around us.

For my 1st Card I pulled out yellow golden cardstock, plaids, and browns. I started with an 8.5x11” yellow cardstock, cut in half and folded to create a card base. Then cut a plaid patterned paper ¼” smaller than the card and adhered to the card base. And stamped the floral image on white cardstock using black ink and a MISTI stamping tool. Colored the image with alcohol markers and fussy cut it out and set aside. Using a die cutting machine, cut out a stitched circle from brown cardstock and adhered the floral image with foam tape for dimension. Then adhered the whole piece to bottom of the card. Next stamped stamped sentiment on cardstock with clear ink, sprinkled embossing powder, and heat set. Using a die cutting machine again, cut out a stitched banner from brown cardstock around sentiment and cut a larger banner in yellow cardstock, adhered the two banners together and wrapped twine around them and adhered to the card. Making sure to tuck some of it under the flowers. And finished with a touch of gold metal adhesive gems.

For my 2nd Card I made this darling gate fold card. First I cut my cardstock to measure 6” x 11” and scored at 2¾” and 8¼” to create the card base. Then for the front, I cut two plaid patterned paper panels 2½”x 6” and adhered to the front folds of the card. Carefully cut a doily in half and adhered to front panels with liquid glue. And attached green felt leaves to front panels. Next stamped front sentiment on cardstock, sprinkled embossing powder, and heat set. Cut out and rounded corners with a punch, added 3D pop dots, and adhered to just the left side of card front panel to allow card to open. Attached felt leaves and added an enamel embellishment.

For the inside of the card I cut a plaid patterned paper panel 5¼” x 5¾”, rounded corners with a punch, and adhered to the inside center of the card. Stamped the owl image on white cardstock using black ink and a MISTI stamping tool. Colored the image by dipping a water brush directly into the distress ink pads until I reached a desired water colored look. Added some sparkle with glitter pens. Using a die cutting machine, cut out image with circle die cut. Adhered green felt leaves and a leaf brad through the cardstock. Adhered image to a doily and attached to the inside panel. Then stamped inside sentiment on cardstock with clear ink, sprinkled embossing powder, and heat set. Cut out and round corners with a punch, and add 3D pop dots to adhere to panel. National Coffee Day Blog Hop + Giveaways

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the leaves changing colors, pumpkin spice in my coffee, and everything about Halloween! And I knew when I saw these amazing *NEW* digital stamps from Super Sponsor
Polka Dot Orchard that I wanted to combine them for this Blog Hop.

I started with a 110lb purple cardstock 8.5x11" folded in half and trimmed down to 4 5/8w x 6 1/4L" for my card base. Added a green polka dot pattern paper cut 1/4" smaller around than my card base and adhered to card. Then I cut a piece of black card stock 3 1/8w x 4 5/8L" and trimmed the top and bottom with a spiderweb border punch and adhered to the card panel. Next I combined my digital images and sentiment in WPS Office 2019, sized them, and layered them the way I wanted and printed on white X-Press It cardstock on my HP printer. Cut out the image with a stitched scallop die using a die cutting machine. And did the same with the sentiment with a different stitched die with no scallops, so as not to distract from our fabulous hat and boots image.

For today's project I combined Best Witches, Pumpkin Spice Mice (from the *NEW* Release), and a sentiment from Coffee Pumpkin Flourish sets to create this card. Aren't these fabulous!?!
I just want to color them all the pretty colors, don't you?

You'll be seeing these a lot, as I just LOVE them! And they are designed by my crafty friends, Crystal of Tawny Owl Paperie blog and Jeanie of Washi Horse Designs, as they are super talented designers that you may recognize from our Friends of Unity blog hops we do together every month! Stay tuned...

Then colored the images with these alcohol markers colors shown above. Once done coloring the image looked a little stark, so I used a blending brush and added some distress oxide ink in blue aroung the edges to make it a little more "spooky" looking. And did the same to the sentiment too. Adhered the main image to the card at an angle so you can see some webs and that slime green background and adhered the sentiment too. Added some bling, of course, to the spiderwebs on the boots and hat with yellow glitter glue and orange gems. Added purple gems across the bottom black spiderwebs and to the letters "i" in the sentiment to finish this spooktacular beauty!

Here's another look at this bewitching card all done with digital stamps, so fun to color, and great for many fun occasions!

Polka Dot Orchard - Petals for Pittmans Fundraiser

Hi everybody! Today I have a very special card to share with you. Here is my card from one of the florals from the new digital stamp set..."Petals for the Pittman's set 1" designed by Angie Blom.

Today's card I started with this light pink 100lb card stock base folded in half and trimmed to 5.5x7.5." With a black and white striped patterned paper cut the same size and border punched down the sides and adhered to card base.

I printed this gorgeous floral image by Angie Blom with a sentiment on my HP home printer on white cardstock. This gorgeous floral is from "Petals for the Pittman's 1" digital stamp set. And colored it with these alcohol marker colors.

Next I added glitter glue to the center flowers and scattered specks around the image. And added wink of stella shimmer to the petals for some more sparkle. Once dry, I trimmed it down to 4 1/4" x 6 1/2." Then cut two opposite corners with a corner rounder and adhered black and pink cardstock to frame the other two pointed corners. Then I adhered the whole image to the card panel. Added a gorgeous matching floral ribbon down the side to complete this beauty.

Friends of Unity March Blog Hop

Welcome to our Friends of Unity Blog Hop where several amazing designer friends and myself share our love (and obsessions) of Unity Stamps with all of you every month and share lots of GIVEAWAYS too!!! Get ready for some amazing inspiration as we pull out all the stops!!!

Our theme for this months Blog Hop is...Creativity!!!
Which could mean anything. Right? So it got me really thinking. What new thing could I create? What products haven't I used? Or what techniques haven't I tried? So, I decided to use "new to me" products and techniques by combining two different foiling techniques with NO laminator and paper piecing to give you lots of tips too!
As shown on my "Poppy Girl" card below...

It usually takes me a while to warm up to trends, because I like versatile products I can use over an over again or reinvent them for other purposes or occasions. And trends usually come and go so quickly, but foiling has actually been around for a long time and is very elegant and shiny.

Today's project was inspired my inability to find my laminator. (lol) As I moved a while back and my laminator is still packed somewhere in my craft room and I can't find it, and I refuse to buy a new one. But I wanted to try this new trend, so I needed to find new ways to foil without a laminator. And after putting my thinking cap on and watching lots of videos, I came up with two ways that worked pretty good with products I already had.

I started my project with an A2 card base in 110lb blue cardstock. Then I inked up this amazing brick wall stamp in the glue pad, add more from the refill to make it nice and sticky, and stamped on a piece of white cardstock. Next I took a piece of red foil, pretty side up or color up, and laid it directly over the stamped image. Smoothing it down gently with my fingers or hand. Then I took a bone folder and gently pressed the foil into the glue. Removed the foil to reveal all magic...with no laminator. Trim image and adhere to a black cardstock mat or frame and adhere to card. Foil is hard to photograph, but you can see all that shimmer!!!

Next I chose this sentiment because it reminded me that our creative vibes inspire others in this great big crafty world and because of Unity, we've become our own tribe. Which I thought fit our theme perfectly!

I inked up the sentiment with black ink and stamped on white cardstock. Using a Big Shot Machine I cut it out with a stitched framed rectangle die. And this time, I used a glue pen and went over the word "tribe" and let it set for a few minutes, to get tacky to the touch. Then took the same red foil, color side up, and laid it directly over the word. Smoothing it down gently with my fingers. Then I took a bone folder and gently pressed the foil into the glue. Removed the foil to see all this glorious red shimmer. But the word "tribe" looked kind of bloby and hard to read, so I went over it with a black alcohol marker. It's stunning, isn't it? And set aside.

I chose "Poppy Girl" because I had not had the opportunity to ink her up yet and I just love all the poppies. It reminds me of Spring and with all the rain we've been getting in the south, that spring flowers blooming are just around the corner.

I stamped her on Neenah alcohol marker friendly white cardstock with Amalgam black ink. It's my go to ink for coloring with alcohol, water coloring, or using Gamsol blending spirits. One stop ink for all mediums. I stamped her twice, in case I messed up. And I stamped parts of her on two different pieces of patterned paper scraps that will be her clothes and fussy cut them out.

I colored the rest of poppy girl, the flowers, and a light outline in marker FS2 around the whole image with these alcohol marker colors shown above. I'm a big fan of using two markers from the same color family for coloring and shading. And gives a pretty good effect without using a lot of markers.

Tips: I came across this 101 blog post "here" that does a great job helping you get started with alcohol markers and tips on coloring and shading. And if you do a search on their website there is a newer 102 post too with good information on coloring skin and hair and more. They talk about Copic alcohol markers, but some of it applies to Spectrum Noir alcohol markers too, which are what I used above.

Then using the same glue pen I "paper pieced" her top and jeans in place. And it looks like one whole piece. Isn't that cool? It reminded me of playing with paper dolls as a kid and now you can change your paper scraps and change her outfits. Fun, right??? The possibilities are endless and uses up a lot of your scraps!!!

I fussy cut poppy girl out by hand, but you could totally use a die cut, scan n' cut, or a silhouette with a pixscan to cut her out too. I also trimmed off the top of the sentiment, because it was too tall and colored around the edges with the same light alcohol marker to match the girl. Adhered both pieces to the card panel. Added adhesive red gems and adhesive gold metallic embellishments. And added two different twines to complete this super shiny stunning card, that required NO heat laminator, and is great for any occasion.

Tips: I used two different glues in different ways with colored heat reactive foil. The background was with a glue ink pad and the sentiment used a glue pen. Things we all probably have in our stash of supplies. Right???

I tried several different foils and not all foils seem to work this way or I'm just not patient enough, as it needs be sticky to stick, and it may take some practice. I also don't know the differences between all the different foils on the market, so they may not all work equally with this technique.

I can only share what products I used and We R Memory Keepers foil worked the best with both the glue pad and the glue pen. The Gina K Designs/Thermoweb colored foils also worked. But I didn't have any luck getting the Minc foils to work, but I think because they are a toner reactive foil and not a heat reactive foil. But I'm not sure, as I didn't use heat. Try what you have and see how creative you can be.

Hi everybody! Sorry I've been a bit out of touch this month. It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my dear sister who lost her battle with breast cancer. I will miss her yesterday, today, forever, and always. She was a mother of twins too, a very special bond we both shared; a very talented graphic designer and an avid card maker; and she just loved the craft world.

Special Holiday Tags + Epiphany Tools

Happy December everybody! Only 24 days until Christmas. Can you believe it? Where did the year go? Yikes! So much to do...gotta get busy. And one of my holiday traditions is to make lots of special holiday tags to have ready for present wrapping in the coming weeks. And this year I used Epiphany Crafts Tools to make them super special, one of a kind, fast and easy, even the kids can help too! And NO stamping, but you could. Maybe a little to/from stamped on the back or on frosty's lower half.

Happy Birthday, Mom! We had a lovely special lunch just me, my little sister, and our parents. It's never just the four of us, with no kids and no husbands. It's usually the fourteen of us or more. lol. And my mom finally attended her first craft show and even won some free products too! A very fun day and lots of laughs with my sister too (Riley stamps are a hoot).

And as some of you may or may not know, this time of year, I make A LOT of family birthday cards (like nine, before I start Christmas cards) and Fall themes are my absolute favorite, but this year I wanted to make something different and try some different products and techniques. Patriotic G45 Lighthouse Card

Red, White, Blue and "Thinking of You"...as I'm dreaming of a sandy beach, waves crashing on the rocks, the warm sunshine on my face, and a fruity drink. Oh! And lighthouses too! I just love them. Don't you? Which one is your favorite? They remind me of family vacations and you can feel all that history when you're standing in front of them. Which say all American to me and I love sharing that history with my kids. So I wanted this card to be red, white, and blue in all it's patriotic glory. And this Eat Cake Graphics lighthouse stamp goes perfect with this Graphic 45 nautical paper collection. Don't you think?
