Theme for May is... our Favorite Angiegirl or guy!
What does that mean? If you are a fan of Unity, you already know. But if you don't know, it's a wonderful line of stamps called Angiegirls or guys by Unity. And it's really hard to choose just one. That's why I've got (3) of my favorites to share with you! Hahaha! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the hop...

Wakely girl was published in Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Fall 2021 issue!

Card #1 is Wakely Girl
She's a confident girl on the move, with books in her bag, and a planner in hand to stay organized or jot down her thoughts. Isn't she stylish? I was inspired by my crafty hop friend, Bobbie Sue, as she did a wonderful monochromatic card "click here" using shades of brown. And I just loved it and really wanted to try it! Here is my version...OH! Don't you just love her boots!?!

Tutorial: I started with a 6x6” plaid patterned paper, trimmed down to about 5x6” and adhered to a kraft card base (not shown). Cut a maroon piece of patterned paper 4x6” and adhere to the card. And cut a piece of rusty brown card stock 2x6” and punched out both long sides with a notebook border punch, cut in half, and adhered to the maroon card panel. Using a MISTI stamping tool I stamped Wakely girl onto white cardstock (alcohol marker friendly) with Versafine Sepia ink and let it dry overnight, but you could heat set it or emboss it too. It’s not usually an alcohol friendly ink, but I find if you let it “cure” overnight or for a few days, it’s been ok to color with and doesn’t bleed or smear. But my Versafine black has smeared. So be careful. Normally I use Gina K Designs Amalgam ink or Catherine Poolers midnight black for any kind of coloring, but I didn’t have those in brown. Use what you’ve got, right? And next I masked the girl using the back paper cover to her stamp and taped it down with purple tape, while using Wakely again, inked up just the text words with Sepia ink, and stamped a few more times down the left side. Using a die cutting machine and a stitched die to cut out the image. These are the Spectrum Noir marker colors I used to color Wakely girl. Then using a blending brush and Distress Oxide Ink-Walnut Stain to blend some ink around Wakely. And using the same ink pad to directly apply ink around the edges. And adhere Wakely to a piece of dark brown cardstock, trim to fit between the notebook border punches. Using the MISTI stamping tool again, stamped the sentiment from the same kit, with Walnut Stain ink on white cardstock. Cut out with a stitched die. And inked around the edges and blended around the words. Adhered just the right side and attached to the card. Add natural twine, slip under the sentiment, and tie in a bow to complete this stylish beauty.

Card #2 is Margaret Girl. She has her favorite party dress on and is ready for any kind of festive occasion! I just love how versatile she is. You will have fun coloring her with many mediums or paper piecing her dress with patterned paper and the balloons too! I was inspired by spring colors, flowers, this pretty Unity paper, and I'm using the ribbon punch again from last weeks GIU card too!

Tutorial: I started with a white piece of 110 cardstock folded in half as our card base (not shown). Cut two pieces of coordinating Unity patterned paper 2x6” and adhered to each end. Cut a piece of blue cardstock 2x6” and cut out with the ribbon border punch. Laced a piece of pink satin ribbon through the blue cardstock, cut the ends and adhered on the back and attached to the card, as shown. Card #3 is Violet Girl. She reminds me of my beautiful daughter. And she is colored in pretty spring colors using colored pencils and one of my favorite rose ribbons. Isn't she pretty?

Tutorial: I started with an A2 (4.25x5.5") 110lb purple cardstock base. And using a die cutting machine, I cut a banner from a banner/fishtale die in this lovely green patterned paper and adhered to the card base. Using my MISTI stamp tool I positioned and centered the sentiment right where I wanted it. Inked the sentiment with Versamark clear ink, sprinkled with white embossing powder, and heat set. Our theme for April is...
a Sketch!
That's right...we're all creating with <== this same sketch to show you several different possibilities. And having a sketch really gives you a good starting point, especially when you're stumped for a design. And I loved it, so I have two cards to share with you this month!

My card today is a lovely Spring card, great for Easter Sun, April 12th. But also a Spring Birthday, Hello, Thinking of You, and many more. I knew I wanted to use this bunny stamp set, because I hadn't used it before. Shocking, right!?! And I paired it with some of my favs: Graphic 45 patterned paper, heat embossing, sparkle, and this gorgeous purple rose ribbon.

Tutorial: I started with an 8.5x11” piece of green Papertrey Ink 110lb cardstock, folded in half, and trimmed down to 6 x 4¾” as my card base. Then cut a 6 x 4½” gorgeous piece of Graphic 45-Place In Time-March patterned paper, which shows two patterns on the one panel, and sprayed with both glimmer mist colors in a splat box. Set aside to dry. It's hard to photograph the shimmer, but it's there. Once dry, adhered to the card base. Click pictures below to get the step by step tutorial for this card...

Ok. Let’s assemble our card. I put adhesive on the back of the purple circle and adhered the purple rose ribbon around the circle. Gave the roses a little fluff around the edges. Popped the bunny up with 3D foam tape, adhered to the purple circle, and adhered the whole piece to the card panel. And adhered the sentiment with 3D form tape to the card to complete this sparkly spring beauty.

My second card may look familiar, because it's the "leftover" mermaid piece from last months mermaid shaker card. See, I told you I'd make another card with that beautiful mermaid and here she is. This set is gorgeous and so fun to play with. And I paired her with an underwater ocean patterned paper and one of the "Big" sentiment kits. So wonderful for many occasions!

Then cut a 7 x 4½” amazing piece of under the sea patterned paper and adhered to the card base. Click pictures below to get the step by step tutorial for this card...

Okay, I only have our gorgeous mermaid circle left to adhere her directly to the ocean panel. And added just a bit of clear sparkle pen to the shells and flowers to make her hair sparkle. And this amazing creature is done! And that’s how I used my “leftovers” with patterned paper and a sketch design! Pretty, right?

I'm excited to tell you this "Blue Beauty" mermaid card was chosen as one of the Pantone Colors of the year and published in the
Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Fall 2020 issue. Yay!

Welcome to our Friends of Unity Blog Hop where several amazing designers and myself share our love (and obsession) of Unity Stamps with all of you + GIVEAWAYS!!! Get ready for lots of inspiration as we say "thank you" for following us, leaving kind words, and supporting our crafty adventures as we celebrate our 1 year Anniversary as a group Hop too!

Our theme for this months Blog Hop is...Thank You!
Which was instilled in me by my mother at an early age to always give thanks. And I've made sure my 4 children do too! As we always hand write "thank you" notes to thank friends and family that gave us gifts over the holiday season or anytime of year.

And an added bonus is it's another excuse to use your holiday stamps and pretty papers one more time before you put them away. This month I was inspired by the outdoors and patterned papers, as shown in my card below...

This month I kept my cards simple, but similar styles and designs, so I could make a bunch of them. And I just love love love this moose! He's going to be great for so many occasions.

I started with an A2 piece of kraft cardstock as my base. I used a scrap piece of patterned paper from my stash for my background that had horizontal stripes that resembled a forest. And using my MISTI stamp tool I lined up the trees (from the Northwoods set) in the middle and inked them up with a couple distress ink green colors and stamped the patterned paper. Then I stamped the sentiment (from Abundant Blessings kit) with clear ink directly onto the patterned paper, sprinkled with white embossing powder, and heat set. And adhered to card base.

Tip: The MISTI stamp tool eliminates your need for lots of acrylic blocks in different sizes. You just need this ONE tool! And allows you to line up all your stamps and sentiments to stamp perfectly every time. Or re-ink with ease.

Next I stamped this majestic moose with clear ink onto kraft cardstock, sprinkled with brown embossing powder, and heat set. Ink blended around the image with Distress ink in brown. Then die cut the image out with a die cutting machine, adhered to the card panel, and trimmed the edge. And added a rustic piece of twine to complete this woodland card that was leftover from another project. And I can totally see using this stamp set for Father's day, Sympathy cards, or for any of my sons birthday cards too! Amazing, right?

I'm excited to tell you this "Northwoods Thanks" moose card was chosen and published in the
Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Fall 2020 issue. Yay!

I want to show you how to stretch your holiday stamps and holiday paper to use for other occasions too!

I am MAD for plaid and Michaels had packs of cards/envelope sets with this plaid already printed on them. Easy, right? They were 5x7", so I trimmed it down to an A2 size and used as my card base. They are kind of thin, so I also added an extra piece of white cardstock inside to make them sturdy.

Then I stamped these stunning reindeer with clear ink directly onto the plaid card base, sprinkled with gold embossing powder, and heat set. Next I stamped the sentiment (from the Abundant Blessings kit) in clear ink on white card stock, sprinkled with gold embossing powder, and heat set. And repeated for a second sentiment. Then die cut the sentiment out, adhered to card base, and trimmed the edge. And added adhesive gems to complete this elegant card that expresses how truly Thankful, Grateful, and Blessed I am for all of you in my life! Thank you for your support!
