Kat Scrappiness Sale + All Occasion Love Cards

Todays project I'm sharing a wonderful "lovey dovey" all occasion mini shaker card using these amazing shaker bits from
Kat Scrappiness (KS).
They are a one stop shop for so many crafty products.

I started with putting my patterned papers together to see what I liked together. I liked the NEW KS Spectrum of Love Slimline paper pack, it's full of wonderful rainbow colors and hearts.

I wanted a neutral card, so I chose the gray/white hearts as the background for this mini shaker card and trimmed it to the size of the KS Slimline Diamond Wire die. Using a 5x7" Tonic clear Shaker envelope, I placed the gray/white hearts panel in the center, folded it over (as it's bigger than the paper panel), and adhered three sides of the clear shaker envelope, leaving one side open to add the KS Heart Sprinkles (shaker bits) and added a few extra die cut red hearts leftover from another KS card inside too and then sealed it up.

I liked the EP black pattern as my outside frame. I cut it out with the KS Mini Slimline Diamond Wire & Wood Grain Frame Die using a Big Shot die cutting machine, and adhered that panel to the top of the clear shaker envelope. Set a side for a moment...

While I created a card base from black 110lb cardstock, trimmed the "lips" EP pattern paper to fit across the card, leaving a bit of black cardstock border at the top and bottom, and adhered to the card base. And then firmly attached the shaker panel to the card.

Next using my MISTI stamping tool, I lined up two sentiments side by side from the KS Friendship Greetings stamp set, inked them up with Versamark clear ink, stamped on black cardstock, removed from the MISTI, sprinkled over red embossing power, tapped it off, and heat set.

I cut a strip of EP "lips" patterned paper. Trimmed down the sentiment on black cardstock, cut banners to each end and adhered to the "lips" patterned paper strip and adhered to the center of the card.

Then I added a leftover red heart die cut to the left side of the sentiment. Added some red enamel dots, and colored in a few red hearts along the frame with a red alcohol marker to complete this lovely card. So great for any lovey dovey occasion (Birthdays, Anniversary, Valentines, etc...) any time of year!

which I'm not complaining, but the calendar says
Christmas is right around the corner.
Are you making Holiday cards or ready for mailing?

That's ok! We still have time to make some cards!

and flat for mailing too! Remember if your envelope is bulky,
you'll need extra postage.
Included is this fun die to make your own envelopes too! I used a few fun Kat Scrappiness dies, pattern papers (great use of scraps), a little alcohol marker coloring, and a few hole punch embellishments made from glitter cardstock scraps.

Before I get started...
Here's an update on my life. I went to Denver last month to honor my little sister, who passed away 4yrs ago, at 46yrs old, from breast cancer way too young! So, because I care... get a mammogram sooner than later!

We haven't moved into our new house yet, as we both changed jobs in August, which has slowed down renovations, and we've had some delays.
All is well, but most of my craft stuff is still packed up, so I unboxed a few things to hop this month, as I miss you all & crafting so much!
But I'll be taking a small break from hopping/blogging for the next couple months, so we can hopefully finish renovating and get moved in soon!

Polka Dot Orchard + Easter Egg Wreath Card

Hi everybody! My heart and prayers go out to you all during this unprecedented time. I hope you have lots of things to keep you and your family busy while we shelter in place to keep others and ourselves safe! What are you doing to keep busy?
My family has been watching movies together and having more dinners together. I have been organizing, baking, stamping, printing, and coloring
lots of things!
Hang in there...we will get through this together!

Now for a little distraction today....an Easter Egg Wreath Tutorial!
Easter is next Sunday, April 12th ya'll...but don't fret! You still have time to make Easter cards and get them mailed with these easy peasy digital stamps in the ==> Polka Dot Orchard Shop!!! So many to choose from and they are ON SALE too!!!

Tutorial: I use a WPS Free Office document program to copy and paste Polka Dot Orchard digital images into, to layer, move images around, and resize them. For today's project I cropped and erased the bunny chick off the eggs, and then copied and pasted that image six times. And arranged the eggs in a circle or wreath. I copied, pasted, and centered a sentiment inside the wreath. Once I had the images where I wanted them, I grouped them as one piece, saved, and renamed as a “new” document in the same file as my original stamp set, to use again for future use. I printed my image on my HP printer using the "thin" brand of white cardstock from HL.

I was inspired by those bright colored Easter egg dye kits we all used as a kid or still may use. And colored the image with these Spectrum Noir alcohol marker colors shown above. I used IB2 around the petals of the daisies to highlight them. Using a Picket Fence blending brush I added a touch of Distress Oxide ink to the inside of the wreath, to highlight the sentiment.

I fussy cut the wreath out with scissors. Adhered a piece of green satin ribbon behind the wreath and adhered wreath to a 6x6” piece of Unity Stamps wood grain patterned paper. Which I thought resembled a door. Then adhered the whole piece to an 8.5x11” 100lb piece of Brutus Monroe Lunchbag kraft cardstock, folded in half, and trimmed down to 6x6,” not shown. Which will take extra postage, because it's square (sorry). And added a touch of clear sparkle pen to the teeny tiny little ladybugs that are on a few of the eggs to finish this wonderful card. I kept this card fairly simple and flat for mailing, but colorful for Easter!

The Association For Creative Industries (AFCI), formerly known as (CHA) the Craft & Hobby Association is a HUGE crafty Trade Show Convention that has been coined "Creativation" the last couple years. It's the largest craft marketplace in North America and will take place in Phoenix, Arizona from January 16-20, 2020.

All of your favorite craft manufacturers from all over the world will come together this week to conduct business under one roof. They will teach over 3000+ Retail Buyers and Store Owners how to use and sell the new craft products with lots of demos, take orders, make connections to grow their business, have face time with designers, and make new professional relationships.

Unfortunately, we, the general public are not invited, but if you are a craft store owner, design team designer, or blogger you can attend this Mega Craft show to learn, touch, and see all the brand new products, place orders, attend many classes and make and takes, network with the experts, and strengthen your skills for today’s economy. 2020 Stamp & Scrapbook Expo Show Dates

The 2020 Stamp & Scrapbook Expo dates for the ultimate craft show in paper crafting and stamping, for the public, have been announced and are all listed below. If you are a card maker, scrapbooker, paper crafter, mixed media artist, jewelry maker, a stamper, or any kind of paper artist, then you do not want to miss this Expo show.

See below...when the Expo is coming to a city near you. You can go for the day, take a road trip, or go for the whole weekend, but book early and get hotel discounts, and join the fun! And if you don't see a city near you, don't fret, plan a trip or suggest it on their website or social media and make recommendations. They are always looking for new venues to add every year. I've attended several Expo shows in Denver and Georgia over the last 8-10 years and have received a huge amount of awesome products, shopping deals, great classes, giveaways, amazing make n' takes, and the whole experience is fantastic. Made new friendships. Enjoyed learning some great new techniques, meet wonderful instructors, get LOTS of inspiration, and take home TONS of fabulous products given to each class participant too!

I suggest signing up for your city newsletter and get advanced notice of early registration, coupons, deals, vendor list, hotel discounts, get the scoop, and more. The Expo also offers paid volunteer positions where you can help in booths or in classes to assist instructors or owners, so check your city website or join your city Facebook group for more info and stay up to date. Meet and shop at your favorite craft manufacturer's booths, meet designers, see new products, learn new techniques, take amazing classes, join a crop, make new crafty friends, make LOTS of projects, and so much more! I do not work for the Expo, but that would be fabulous someday, and these are just my personal experiences and opinions, because it is a fantastic show. You will not regret it. It's an amazing experience!

Happy Thanksgiving week! As we're all running around grocery shopping, baking, and cooking to get ready for the big day, allow yourself a moment to stop and give thanks for your blessings, and maybe carve out some crafting time to relax and recharge. It won't take long to create a card or a tag for those family or friends hosting your special holiday meals that will be greatly received. And enter your project in our Polka Dot Orchard "Thanks" Instagram Challenge! Details below...

Today I am sharing this darling hostess tag for our "Tag It Tuesday" series and to remind you of the Polka Dot Orchard Instagram Challenge that runs thru November 28, 2019. The theme of this challenge is 13 Days Of Thanks. What are you thankful for? I'm thankful for my family, wonderful friends near and far, good health, and my craft supplies, which some were acquired recently from late sister.

Tutorial below...

I started this tag by layering a few digital images and printed on white X-Press It cardstock. And colored the image with watercolor pencils and a light touch with a water brush. Using a die cutting machine and tag dies to cut it out and cut out a larger tag in a plaid pattern paper and adhered the two together. Traced over the sentiment with black sparkle pen to brighten it up. And added some clear sparkle pen on the leaves and baster too. Punched a whole in the top and added ribbon to complete this turkey tag and tied to a nice bottle of wine ready for our hostess.

Happy Easter!!! I hope you enjoyed seeing the amazing *NEW* Spring Release from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps over the last few weeks. I love that they are designed in Colorado (my home state) and made in the USA!!! Be sure to see them all on Pinterest or Instagram and pin your favorites! Because today is sure to inspire you too!!!

Today's Project: Easter Egg Shaker Card
I cut a white piece of cardstock 4.5x12" and folded in half to be 4.5x6." Then cut a 4x6" piece of plaid patterned paper and adhered to the card base. And took a 4x6" piece of yellow cardstock and cut an oval shape hole in the center with an egg shape die cut and a Big Shot machine. And set a side.

Next I taped down a NEW stencil on white cardstock with some purple tape (like masking tape, but less tacky) and added some color with a blending tool. And trimmed down a little larger than the oval shape opening to about 4x4.5"

When I was at a craft Expo last year I came across these clear shaker bags for cards and thought that was a genius way to contain our sequins and remain flat enough for mailing. Because we usually use foam tape and it's very bulky.

So, I took a clear bag, filled it with pretty spring colored sequins, sealed the top closed and adhered to the back side of the yellow cardstock at the top and bottom that we already cut out the opening previously. Then adhered the stencil panel to this yellow panel, and adhered the whole piece to the card base.

The cut out of the egg shape was a little wider than the clear shaker bag, so I covered that up by adhering these pretty flowers all the way around it. (our little secret) And added glitter enamel dots to the centers for more sparkle. Pretty, right?

To finish up this card I stamped a sweet sentiment in black on green cardstock, trimmed it down, cut the the end with scissors to create a banner and adhered to card, tucked under the flower. So sweet and versatile for Easter, Birthday, Anniversary, Graduation, New Baby or any special occasion! I hope I've inspired you to use your die cuts and stencils in new and creative ways. Gift Card Holders or Treat Holders with Huggable Critters

I started with the Huggable Critters Fri Die set that includes an egg shape body, feet, ears, tails and more. AND a coordinating stamp set that includes faces, whiskers, feet, and paws too! It's just darling. You will have tons of fun creating with these. I did! The possibilities are endless.

I used colored cardstock and cut out all the "egg shaped" body parts, "feet" and "hand" parts with a Big Shot. And die cut from plaid patterned paper for the ears, tails, and paws. It was very fun to mix and match solids and prints. But I do suggest you make one body at a time, so you don't lose or mix up body parts. It is easy to do! (lol) And since I was making several, I made little piles of the die cuts until I was ready to glue.

Next using the cute little coordinating stamps in this set, I chose the eyes, noses, or whiskers and stamped their faces directly onto the egg bodies with black ink. Then glued all the parts in place with a clear glue.

I also, die cut some extra bunny tails and colored and turned into flowers; colored and cut extra whiskers for flower stems; and cut extra hearts out for the critters to hold. Added glitter glue to some to make them sparkle and complete these adorable huggable critters. You're going to love these! They are so much fun for so many occasions!

And I could totally stop there and adhere these bodies to a card base...but no. Today, I'm turning these little darlings into gift card holders for my kids for Easter. Or they could also hold some yummy treats for your sweets too!

I'm a big fan of recycling, reusing, and re-purposing. And today I'm using paper towel holders cut in half as my holders. Or your local big box craft store sells these rolls brand new too. I kept these rather simple, as all my cuteness will be on the front.

I cut patterned paper in 4x6" strips and adhered around the paper towel roll and added a piece of ribbon with adhesive. To keep the bottom closed I fold in the ends and pinched it in a little. Or you can add a sticker, an eyelet, brad, or even a staple would work to keep the bottom closed if your going to fill it with treats. But a gift card should be fine with or without anything on the bottom.

Next I added a strip of good bonding adhesive down the back of the holder and adhered a huggable critter and filled with gift cards. Aren't these adorable??? Now you too can make puppies, kitties, bunnies, and there is a bear in the set too! So versatile for Easter, Birthdays, Graduations, Baby cards/showers, and more.
My kids are going to flip when they see this darling critters and yours will too!!! Happy Shopping at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps "here."

2019 Stamp & Scrapbook Expo Dates

The 2019 Stamp & Scrapbook Expo dates for the ultimate craft show in paper crafting and stamping, for the public, have been announced and are all listed below. If you are a card maker, scrapbooker, paper crafter, mixed media artist, jewelry maker, a stamper, or any kind of paper artist, then you don't want to miss this show. Each one is different and they are all amazing!

See below...when they are coming to a city near you. You can go for the day, or take a road trip, go for the whole weekend and book early and get hotel discounts, and join the fun! And if you don't see a city near you, don't fret, plan a trip or mention it on their website or social media and make recommendations. They are always looking for new venues to add every year.

I've attended several shows over the years and have received some super products, shopping deals, great classes, giveaways, amazing make and takes, and the whole experience is fantastic. Enjoy learning some great new techniques, meet wonderful instructors, get LOTS of inspiration, and take home TONS of fabulous products given to each class participant too!

I suggest signing up for your cities newsletter and get the scoop, notice of early registration, coupons, deals, vendor list, hotel discounts, and more. And stay in the know, because classes do sell out within the first hour of pre-registration. And hotels book up fast.

Also, the Expo offers paid volunteer positions to help at the shows in booths or in classes to assist instructors, so check your cities website or join your cities Facebook group for more info and stay up to date.

Meet and shop at your favorite craft manufacturer's, meet designers, see new products, learn new techniques, take amazing classes, join a crop, make new crafty friends, make LOTS of projects, and so much more! Grab your crafty friends and family, take a road trip, go for the day, or book a hotel and have a girls weekend, and get to a Scrapbook Expo.

I do not work for the Expo, but that would be amazing someday, these are just my personal opinions and experiences, because it is a fabulous show. You will not regret it. It's an amazing experience! ~Kim

Today I'm sharing a very special jewelry set I made for my Mom using all Craft Fantastic products. I chose a large daisy image for the pendant and smaller daisy images for the earrings, because they are my Moms favorite flower and were in her wedding bouquet 49yrs ago. I LOVE them too! They remind me of the bright sunshine days of summer vacation as a kid. Just running through fields of flowers. Oh the lazy days of summer...come on and hurry up...as it just snowed here last week.
