I wanted to cut the word "happy" out, so I had to make a larger card and folded an 8.5x11" piece of pink cardstock in half for my card base. I cut a piece of pink chevron patterned paper the same size as my base and adhered to the card. I then chose this lovely floral patterned paper as the front of my card and cut it 6x12" strip to fit all the die cut letters.
Next I laid out the die cut alpha letters on the pattern paper to decide where I wanted to cut them out. I wanted some white space to show, but still wanted color and flowers too. Once placed, I adhered a strip of blue painters tape to each die cut, so they wouldn't move (or I could have used a magnetic base plate to make things easier, but I didn't have it unpacked from our move. lol). Then cut the patterned paper letters out with a Big Shot Machine or any manual die cut machine and set aside.
I took the negative floral patterned paper sheet, trimmed it to fit my card base, trimmed another 1/2" off each side so the pink patterned paper would show, and adhered to card.
I won this fabulous aIpha die cut set from the Altenew Blog Hop a few months back and I just LOVE them and can't thank them enough! So fun!
When you have all your letters stacked together you can then adhere them back in the negative space you originally cut them from on the patterned paper. But now they have raised dimension. And there you have a little surprise hidden in the pattern, like camouflage.
