Hi everybody! This week I'm sharing a sweet summer card with red and yellow plaid pattern papers that resemble summer picnics with family and friends. These adorable chicks remind me of chatting with friends and family sitting around catching up on life.

Let's get started:
First I stamped the chicks image on water color paper using versamark clear ink, white embossing powder, and heat set. So, when I colored the image, my ink wouldn't smear. And I like how the white outline gives a softer look.
Next I used a mix of gelatos and water color crayons to "paint" the chicks and create the grass and sky with a water brush.
Cut out the chicks using a stitched oval frame die cut and a black border cut with my Big Shot Machine. The chicken wire embossing folder matches perfectly in the background, with a touch of country using a wagon wheel border punch.
Layered a red gingham ribbon over a black gingham ribbon to make it pop. Added a couple buttons and a sentiment tag to finish it up. And there you have a simple card for somebody special for many different occasions.
