If you cut an 8.5" x 11" piece of cardstock in half, then those two pieces when folded will become two A2 cards. So for my kids cards I only need two pieces of red cardstock to get four card bases. Then I die cut black scallop stitched cardstock panels and adhered those to the card bases.
I love to mix and match stamps and use stamps I haven't ever used or haven't used in a long time. So here is an assortment from my "valentines" stash with a few from my sister (cuuuute-spiders and butterfly). Some are old and some are current. So, don't fret if you don't have these or can't find them, just use what you have. Or use your machines, die cuts, or punches to cut out a jar, hearts, butterflies, or spiders.
I stamped the jar with black ink on white cardstock. And in alternating distress ink colors stamped all the "candy" hearts to fill up the jars and leaving room at the top for the stamped sentiments. I also did some two-step or second generation stamping too. If you don't know what that means, I'll explain. You ink up your stamp like normal, stamp on your cardstock once, then stamp a second time, without re-inking, in a different location on your cardstock to get a lighter inked image of the same stamp. It creates some depth and filled my jar up. And attached a paper doily at the top of each jar and trimmed to fit the top of the jars. Adhered jars to black panels of the cards.
Next I stamped all the cute spiders and butterfly on white cardstock, colored them in with watercolor/distress markers and a blender pen, fussy cut them out, and adhered to the jars. I could have popped them up, but I wanted them flat for mailing. And added a piece of ornate ribbon at the top to finish up my cards. I hope I've inspired you to mix and match your stamps, holidays, and create something great!
