Get ready for lots of inspiration as we say "thank you" for following us, leaving kind words, and supporting our crafty adventures as we celebrate our 1 year Anniversary as a group Hop too!
But before I get started...check back to our November Blog Hops and see if you are one of the many Winners and claim your prizes! Becca Y. is the Winner at My Kraft Kloset's Nov prize. Congratulations!!!
Our theme for this months Blog Hop is...Thank You!
Which was instilled in me by my mother at an early age to always give thanks. And I've made sure my 4 children do too! As we always hand write "thank you" notes to thank friends and family that gave us gifts over the holiday season or anytime of year. And an added bonus is it's another excuse to use your holiday stamps and pretty papers one more time before you put them away. This month I was inspired by the outdoors and patterned papers, as shown in my card below... This month I kept my cards simple, but similar styles and designs, so I could make a bunch of them. And I just love love love this moose! He's going to be great for so many occasions.
I started with an A2 piece of kraft cardstock as my base. I used a scrap piece of patterned paper from my stash for my background that had horizontal stripes that resembled a forest. And using my MISTI stamp tool I lined up the trees (from the Northwoods set) in the middle and inked them up with a couple distress ink green colors and stamped the patterned paper. Then I stamped the sentiment (from Abundant Blessings kit) with clear ink directly onto the patterned paper, sprinkled with white embossing powder, and heat set. And adhered to card base.
Tip: The MISTI stamp tool eliminates your need for lots of acrylic blocks in different sizes. You just need this ONE tool! And allows you to line up all your stamps and sentiments to stamp perfectly every time. Or re-ink with ease. Next I stamped this majestic moose with clear ink onto kraft cardstock, sprinkled with brown embossing powder, and heat set. Ink blended around the image with Distress ink in brown. Then die cut the image out with a die cutting machine, adhered to the card panel, and trimmed the edge. And added a rustic piece of twine to complete this woodland card that was leftover from another project. And I can totally see using this stamp set for Father's day, Sympathy cards, or for any of my sons birthday cards too! Amazing, right?
I'm excited to tell you this "Northwoods Thanks" moose card was chosen and published in the
Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Fall 2020 issue. Yay!
I want to show you how to stretch your holiday stamps and holiday paper to use for other occasions too!
I am MAD for plaid and Michaels had packs of cards/envelope sets with this plaid already printed on them. Easy, right? They were 5x7", so I trimmed it down to an A2 size and used as my card base. They are kind of thin, so I also added an extra piece of white cardstock inside to make them sturdy.
Then I stamped these stunning reindeer with clear ink directly onto the plaid card base, sprinkled with gold embossing powder, and heat set. Next I stamped the sentiment (from the Abundant Blessings kit) in clear ink on white card stock, sprinkled with gold embossing powder, and heat set. And repeated for a second sentiment. Then die cut the sentiment out, adhered to card base, and trimmed the edge. And added adhesive gems to complete this elegant card that expresses how truly Thankful, Grateful, and Blessed I am for all of you in my life! Thank you for your support! I hope I've inspired you to use your holiday stamps and patterned papers in new ways for other occasions and see what you can create. The possibilities are endless!

Our theme for this months Blog Hop is...Strength!
Which can be interpreted many different ways. I was inspired by the many craft friendships I've made, such strong women supporting one another, and the beautiful uplifting sentiments I drew strength from, as shown in my card below... For tutorial and more details click Read More ==> Happy October and Happy World Card Making Day too!!! Welcome to our Friends of Unity Blog Hop where several amazing designers and myself are sharing our love (obsession) of Unity Stamps with all of you + GIVEAWAYS!!! Get ready for lots of inspiration coming your way today. I just LOVE this time of year!!! But before I get started...the Winner from my September Friends of Unity Blog Hop GIVEAWAY is......Cindy Holmes!!! Congratulations!!! Our theme for this months Blog Hop is...Leaves! It's my favorite time of year when all the leaves change color, pumpkin everything is everywhere, lots of family birthdays to celebrate, including my own, and cooler weather comes back. Somewhere...not here yet...it's 92* in the south still. But soon our big tall southern trees will be full of colorful leaves, which was my inspiration for this months theme, as shown in my card below... To begin my project I started with an A2 sized kraft cardstock as my sturdy card base and stamped over it in white ink with the *NEW* Barn Wall background stamp. Allow to dry or heat set. OMG! You will LOVE this new stamp for so many unique backgrounds!!! I then cut an orange plaid pattern paper strip 2.25 x 5.5" and adhere to the top portion of card base. And cut a 5.5" inch piece of polka dot ribbon and adhere across the middle. The knot is separate and we'll attach it later. I stamped several distress ink colors and layers with the tree stamp onto white cardstock. First, I inked the leaves, hearts and some of the ground in several greens and added aged mahogany ink pad directly to the tree trunk, limbs, and some of the ground for the first layer. You want to do this layer first, as it's the only chance to get the trunk/limbs stamped nicely and you don't always have to use brown for tree trunks. Next I turned the tree stamp and inked just the top portion to build some height and where most of the leaves were. I stamped several times to get a good blend of reds, oranges, and some yellow leaves until I was satisfied. I colored in the hearts with a coordinating distress marker color and added some sparkle too! Then in a matching ink color I stamped this sweet sentiment. I kept the edges simple, as to not distract from the leaves with a stitched die cut frame and adhered to the card with 3D foam tape for some dimension. Adhere some sequins with a fine tip glue pen for a touch more bling. Cut another piece of ribbon, tie in a knot, and adhere to the side of the card to complete this amazing Fall card. I hope I've inspired you to get your inks out and play with color and have fun with all the WCMD activities this weekend too! Let me know what you think of my interpretation of our October theme. Pssst! There are several GIVEAWAYS along the Hop too, but you have to Blog Hop below to find them all. Good Luck! Happy September! Welcome to my first Friends of Unity Blog Hop along with several amazingly talented designers, sharing our love and obsession of Unity Stamps. Which is really your gain, of tons of inspiration coming your way every month. This month our theme is...Wings!
Which is open to interpretation and could be butterflies, fairies, dragonflies, angels, planes, you name it.
Unity has tons of ideas to choose from that are also ON SALE this weekend too! The dragonflies of summer spoke to me as shown in my card below...
Summer is winding down, but the temperatures are heating back up here in the South and we're seeing an influx of dragonflies and really BIG ones!
Bigger than I've ever seen in my whole life. I captured a picture of one from my garden and it's as big as my hand. No joke. It looks like one from my card. Don't you think?

Happy Monday everybody!!! Today I'm sharing this stunning beauty using one of my new favorite stamps, that was quick and easy to make, but looks like I spent all day creating it. For tutorial and more details click Read More ==> Hi everybody! Today I'm sharing three floral cards you can use for Birthdays, Mother's Day, and many occasions any time of year. And daisies always remind me of long sunny summer days and mountain wildflowers just swaying in the breeze. And I'll show you how to use the same stamp set and get three different looks. Easy peasy! Right? One of my favorite cardstocks for card bases is from Papertrey Ink, because it's sturdy, strong, and a very good quality. I got a huge variety pack of colors a while back of 8.5x11" (when they were on sale) and cut in half it will give you two A2 card bases. So, that's how I started these card bases. Next I cut scraps from pattern papers, some the same size as my base or cut in half and mix and match. It's a great way to use up your scraps we all horde. Once you decide, then adhere to the card base. Then I stamped several daisies on white water color paper in pink and yellow on the left and right sides. Leaving the centers empty. As you can see in the pictures above, I left the daisy stamp in place on the MISTI tool, marked a corner of my white paper and just flipped the paper over, lined it up with the mark. And it was ready to ink up and stamp the other side perfectly even. Then adhere to the card base. And stamped a few single daisies too for my centers. I am in no way a water color expert...but I am still learning too and I'm always trying new things. So, for these daisies I experimented with Distress Markers and colored my paint palette a few like colors, added some water, and used an H20 brush to blend and color just one of the daisies for the centers of the cards and set aside to dry. Added some glitter glue or sequins to make them sparkle, of course. Once dry, fussy cut the daisies out. And adhered to centers of the cards with foam tape. Then I took a coordinating strip of pattern paper and stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the same stamp set and adhered to the front of the cards. You can make a lot of these cards to have on hand for any occasion, just by using coordinating papers, colors, or scraps and the same stamp set.
Have a great summer and be sure to stop and smell the daisies! ~Kim Challenges: HLS July Watercolour Challenge Simon Says Monday Challenge: Summer Fun! I am pleased to announce I can finally share my cards with you, but you'll have to pick up a copy of CardMaker Magazine for a materials list and instructions. Sorry! But the magazine is totally worth it!!! It's only approx. $6 US per issue, sold at specialty stores or online. It is published quarterly, and is one of the few still publishing paper copies. So if you'd like the Autumn issue you have until end of September to get your copy. Because the Winter issue comes out in October. (which I have one card in that issue too). But once you have a subscription, you have access to 2 years of back digital issues and you can download them to have forever. So, lets have an Autumn GIVEAWAY...leave me a comment below about what you think of my new projects and what your favorite part of Autumn is and I'll announce a winner next Saturday, July 11th. Thanks for all your kind words and support! Spring in the Rockies usually means Mother Nature isn't done snowing on us...which she isn't. We got a couple more inches of snow last week and a few flakes this week, but it didn't stay long, because the ground is warm and the sun came out. So, I thought this card was appropriate for a Colorado Spring, as my three sons are always up for a snowball fight.
This adorable card is a 6" x 6" square, so extra postage will be needed for mailing, but it's also my first shaker card. I knew when I saw this adorable snowball stamp from Unity Stamps I wanted to make it feminine. And the Eat Cake Graphics sentiment stamp went with it perfectly... I made a few "thinking of you" cards while dreaming of Spring and warmer weather. As I sit here looking out my window at 10 inches of snow and 8 degree weather outside. Our city is practically closed. All the schools are closed and businesses are asked to close early or not open today. I know we're not as bad as some cities, but our whole town is built on several hills and it's very dangerous out.
So, as any good crafter does on a snow day...we either go sledding or craft. Too cold to go sledding, so I made a couple cards for some dear people in my life to let them know we were thinking of them. I've seen a lot doilies on projects lately, so I wanted to add some to mine too... |
