Thinking of you...always...is a sentiment I like to use a lot. I try to make a bunch of these all occasion cards throughout the year, because something always comes up and I need a card. I made this card with just a few embellishments and scraps. Do you save scraps? How do you store your scraps? What do you do with yours? I've seen some fancy storage and organization ideas on Pinterest, but I just have a bin full of pattern paper scraps in no particular order, but it's in one place. So, every couple months I grab it and make cards from the scraps. Use what you've got, right?
Happy Birthday, Mom! Yes, my parents are two days apart, just like my lil' sister and me. I know, I told you, Fall is crazy busy filled with birthdays. And as many of you know, I rarely get to make pink cards, as my daughter loves purple, and I have three sons and a hubby at home. So, when I came across this pattern paper I just knew I had to make another "quilt" card in pink and black and frilly for my mom. I just love pink and black together. Don't you? It's so classic and gorgeous for any occasion...
Fall is in the air and I'm seeing pumpkin stuff, apples, and sunflowers. I just love seeing all the sunflower fields in August, don't you? Rows and rows of gorgeous vibrant color inspired me to share this precious card I made with NO stamping. Really! I used to be intimidated by busy pattern paper or those papers that have a complete scene on them. They're just too pretty to cut or cover up with pictures. So, what do you do with them? Well, hopefully this tutorial will help you...
April showers bring May flowers and these magical flowers by Eat Cake Graphics stamps are buzzing with activity. I don't know about you...but we've had 30 straight days of rain and the flowers and trees are budding and blooming everywhere. If you're area has been hard hit by traumatic Spring weather I hope your safe and you're in our thoughts. Here is a close up so you can see the unique mottled watercolor background, the fuzzy or mossy effect of the flower soft, and the sparkle everywhere...
This is one of my favorite cards with frogs, pattern paper, and ribbon. I’ve loved frogs for as long as I can remember and still do. So, when I saw this stamp from Eat Cake Graphics, I just knew I wanted to create something with froggie for Easter. I stamped froggie three times and put him in motion like he’s leaping for joy...it's Spring! I stamped him on Bo Bunny double dot green dot paper and layered that over the spring flowers pattern paper from Pebbles-garden party collection. I love pink and green together, it’s very Springy. And I've been dying to use that gorgeous pink rose ribbon forever. Then stamped the sentiment with my favorite ink, Versafine Onyx Black. And added googly eyes for a touch of whimsy. They're not just for Halloween, ya know? As my kids would say. I kept it pretty flat for mailing, but you still might need extra postage. I hope you play around with colors, spring patterns, and a touch of whimsy. And get out and enjoy this gorgeous Spring weather. ~Kim Eat Cake Graphics Stamps: 5032-E, Go froggie go! 8065-F, Hippity hoppity Easter (text) I entered the 4 Crafty Chicks: Challenge # 250 {POLKA DOTS}

June Challenge: Brads, Buttons, and Bling (click here for more details) This month’s theme is anything that includes all three: brads, bling, and buttons. Now time to get to work... I’ve loved frogs for as long as I can remember and still do. So, when I saw this stamp from Eat Cake Graphics, I just knew I wanted to create something with froggie for Easter.
I stamped him three times and put him in motion like he’s leaping for joy...it's Spring! I stamped him on Bo Bunny double dot green dot paper and layered that over the spring flowers pattern paper from Pebbles-garden party collection. I love pink and green together, it’s very Springy. And I've been dying to use that pink rose ribbon from American Crafts forever. Then stamped the sentiment with my favorite ink: Versafine Onyx Black. And added googly eyes for a touch of whimsy. They're not just for Halloween, ya know? As my kids would say. I hope you play around with colors, spring patterns, and a touch of whimsy. Be sure to check out these adorable stamps from the link below. And I hope you get out and enjoy this gorgeous Spring weather and have wonderful Easter. ~Kim Eat Cake Graphics Stamps: 5032-E, Go froggie go! 8065-F, Hippity hoppity Easter (text) My daughter turned 25yrs old last week...yes...it's true! It's hard to believe that a quarter of a century has gone by. So, I wanted to share with you the lovely 25th birthday card I made for her to commemorate this grand day! She was born on the first day of Spring, it was 70 degree's that day and snowing 10 days later. Twenty five years later it's the same weather. It was warm and sunny last week and snowing today. That's Spring in Colorado!
See below for tutorial... I made a few "thinking of you" cards while dreaming of Spring and warmer weather. As I sit here looking out my window at 10 inches of snow and 8 degree weather outside. Our city is practically closed. All the schools are closed and businesses are asked to close early or not open today. I know we're not as bad as some cities, but our whole town is built on several hills and it's very dangerous out.
So, as any good crafter does on a snow day...we either go sledding or craft. Too cold to go sledding, so I made a couple cards for some dear people in my life to let them know we were thinking of them. I've seen a lot doilies on projects lately, so I wanted to add some to mine too... Do you sometimes need cards fast? Do you make thank you cards? Come see how I took one 12x12 sheet of pattern paper and turned it into six "thank you" cards. I learned from my Mom and my Grandmother at a young age that it's important to take the time to thank people with a written note. I still do that, usually with a handmade card. I have since passed that etiquette down to my four kids and hope they carry it onto their children. Yes, sometimes they moan and groan (as 3 of them are boys), but I hope they are learning why gratitude is important. Once you have all your card fronts attached you can add little touches. I added some sparkle on the center trees with a glitter pen. Added some flower embellishments to keep it kind of flat for mailing. Stamp sentiment on the outside and inside. In one hour or less you can have six cards made in no time. I had to make more than six cards so I used a few sheets from the matching MME 6x6 paper pad too. If you pick really detailed pattern paper, this makes it look like it took you a week to stamp it all. I always look for a deal on my craft products and usually save 50% or more on whole collections, so everything matches. See below where you too can get daily deals posted to Facebook, Pinterest, or Twitter. Have fun! ~Kim Supplies:
My Minds Eye 12x12 Vintage Christmas pattern paper Recollections Ivory A2 cards/envelopes (at Michaels) Stampin Up Wheel and stamps Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink Peeled Paint American Crafts Glitter Ribbon Copic Spica Atyou clear glitter pen Prima Flowers (I won in a giveaway from Prima and G45) 1/4" Red double sided sticky tape Daily Craft Deals: A modern Christmas card with a tale to tell...once upon a time, I had a stamp I wanted to use. It was of the Eiffel tower wrapped in holly. When I think of the Eiffel tower, I think of pink and black and a card was born. I have never created a modern card before and certainly not a pink Christmas card, as I knew my husband would be thrilled. NOT! LOL...but once it was finished, he did like it.
I knew I wanted pink and black. I started back in August gathering up products I had, or found around town, and putting them in a tote bag. Every time I had an idea or a product I wanted to use, it went in the tote bag. I do this every year. So, when I'm ready to create I have all my ideas and products in one tote bag. Makes life a little easier...See tutorial below... My craft club decided to help a fellow craft friend out and make cards for our US soldiers stationed in Hawaii. I am proud to say we made over 300 cards for our US soldiers and their families to say "thank you" for your service and sacrifices...see more below...
This is the card I made for my mom. Happy Birthday mom! I have loved this stamp set for a while now and I finally made a card with it. As with a lot of our supplies, we "collect" them and don't use them right away. So, I've been challenging myself every month to pick a stamp set I haven't used and make something. Next month I will show you my Christmas card I'm making with a stamp I've never used. I challenge you to do the same and USE your crafts! Sorry, this stamp set and printed paper is discontinued, but you might find it on eBay or Amazon. But you can still use other types of Fall printed paper or other sunflower stamps to recreate this card. It's a great design for any occasion any time of the year. Supplies: Bo Bunny "Forever Fall" pattern paper Bazzill black and white cardstock Close to my Heart "Friendship Bouquet" stamp set Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Twig" Stampin Up watercolor crayons H2O brush Crafty Secrets clear art stamps "Grand Greetings" Fiskars leaf border punch Ranger stickles "icicle" glitter glue American Crafts twine button Glue Dots micro Tombow MONO Adhesive Permanent runner 5" x 7" finished card I entered this card in: Little Red Wagon-Challenge #297 ~ Birthday Theme The Paper Girl's 82nd Challenge: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I bought this VERY big rose cling stamp (by Stampendous: Cling Jumbo Rose Set #CRS5006) a really long time ago and used it on my Mother's Day cards. Little did I realize I did not have an acrylic block BIG enough to put it on. Panic! No...LOL...well a little. Then I searched around my craft room until I came up with a solution, because I was determined, I was going to use that stamp! My ah ha moment! I could use one of my thick Sizzix dies in the plastic case. Would the stamp cling to it? Yes it did! Pretty good too. I inked my white cardstock with Ranger Tim Holtz Spun Sugar distress ink and dragged the whole ink pad over it. Kind of random in all directions. I inked up the rose stamp with Versamark clear watermark ink (the best pigment ink) and started stamping on the cardstock. I sprinkled Inkadinkadoo White Linen embossing powder over the stamped roses and heat embossed. I stamped and embossed one rose at time and cut them out. I used pre-embossed gray cardstock by American Crafts, but you could make your own with embossing folders, and then I sanded it with a Making Memories sanding block to bring out the pattern. I used two different ribbons by layering a pink polka dot on top of a pink lace for a unique look. Stamp a sentiment, I used "hello" from Stampin Up. Using the pink cardstock scraps leftover from the rose stamp, and punched it out with an oval punch. Inked the edges of a fabric flower and added a pearl. Add some pearl gems to the center of the rose. I found this stamp very versatile and would use it not only for Mother's Day, but for birthdays, and anniversary cards too. Finished this is an A7 card. Happy Presidents Day! The sun is shining, no school today, my boys are outside playing, and I'm feeling crafting. Today I'd like to share with you a cup of tea...Jillibean Soup style. I cut the tea cup from a Slice design cartridge from the Jillibean Soup paper collection. Tip: I masked off the top, bottom, and the handle with blue painters tape. My favorite tape for masking or holding down thin die cuts! It won't stick to your paper or anything. Very easily removed. I colored in the top, bottom, and handle with a gold leaf paint pen; added red pearl gems; and foam dots to pop it up. Tip: I love to re-purpose my tools and use them in different ways. On this card I used scallop decorative scissors and a handle hole punch for the bottom paper strip, but you could easily use any scallop border punch from Fiskars or EK Success too! Then I cut out the month April from the Jillibean Soup paper collection. I chose April for Spring and to give as an upcoming Anniversary card or birthday card. I wanted to make it look like a tea bag with twine and a staple for a 3D effect. You don't always have to craft things flat. It's fun to give your projects some dimension and to mix and match your tools and see what you can create. What are you doing today? Happy Valentines Day! I just LOVE Valentines, but this card could be for any occasion you want to tell somebody you love them. Even Mother's Day. I used Jillibean Soup paper collections and tags. I added the doily, bakers twine, roses, gems, little banners, gems, and cute little clothes pins. I love embellishments. I used a corner rounder on the tag, square and heart punches for the banners. I wanted the "LOVE" to stand out a little bit more, so I traced the letters with a pink glitter pen. Have a great weekend! Tip: Using punches you have to make banners. I used a small square punch, cut the squares in half, and used the top of a heart punch to make the curves. Lay the bakers twine across the card, popped the tag and banners up with pop dots and laid them on the bakers twine. |
