Little Tangles Challenge #68- Anything Goes
4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #299 - Favorite Era
What's your favorite Era? I have a few decades I love and the roaring 1920's is one of them. The old gangster movies, glamorous fashions, and the bold patterns of Art Deco. And my oldest son was just reading The Great Gatsby for school and inspired me to make this card. For this challenge I chose this stunning couple from a Graphic 45 framed pattern paper and built my card around them. He looks dashing in his tux from the 1920's, but her fashion is kind of 1850's high society. Maybe they're time traveling, but either way, I think it works. Click "Read More" for tutorial

Challenges: MarkerPop! Challenge #92: Spring-(with Copic Markers, Atyou Spica Glitter pens) WIW March Anything Goes Challenge Crazy Egg-Anything Goes 4CC #292 The Paper Girls Challenge #100!! Skip to my Lou-Made by you Mondays Happy Spring! I hope it's warming up where you are. We had 4" of snow just two days ago and today it's mostly melted, warm, and sunny. But it will snow again...that's just what it does in Colorado. It's also the day after my daughter's birthday, so I can share with you the card I made her. I wanted it bright and happy for Spring and this Amy Tangerine collection really delivered. I love this modern look with a retro a twist with the mod shapes and cassette tapes. First adhere the pink and yellow pattern papers to a card base. Punch out nine label shapes from four sheets of pattern paper, run through a sticker maker, and adhere to card. I layered two ribbons on top of this cool pink burlap ribbon. Add flower embellishments, enamel dots, music note stickers, and the "sweet life" sticker in the middle. And another card with NO stamping. ~Kim Challenges:

I'm up on the CardMaker Blog again sharing my craft spaces with you. I'll be honest, I was a little panicked when I got this assignment, as it's very personal to invite you into my space. So, be kind and don't judge me. I am working on reducing the amount of stuff I have. Really! My sister made me join a local sale to sell some stuff and maybe some stuff could be future giveaway prizes too! Plus, I can see the floor and easily walk around my space, so I am NOT a hoarder. (lol)
At the beginning of every year we tell ourselves to get more organized. Take a peak into my real space, see where I create, and how I organize some of my supplies. I'll show you how I organize my stamps and punches and so much more. Read more about my craft room, see more pictures around my space, and get a complete supply list of where I buy my organizers. Click "here" to go to the CardMaker Blog. I hope I've inspired you to get organized. Thanks for stopping by today! ~Kim Easter is Sunday, March 27, 2016 this year! So, that does not leave a lot of time to make cards. Do you make Easter cards? If so, post them on Facebook and show me what you've made. I'd love to see them.
I was inspired to create these fun flip card by the shapes and colors from "The House That Stamps Built" challenge. I love the pink, blue, and purple colors. And I think the bunny ears look like hearts. The sentiment I downloaded a printable and printed it from my computer in color on white cardstock and punched it out. ~Kim Hi everybody! I'm up on the CardMaker Blog today sharing tips on how to make nice, easy, cards, in a flash. I created a card template (below) and I'm happy to share with you all. I've done all the math and measuring for you and this template makes it so fast and easy to cut all your pieces. All you have to do is cut and paste. These two cards were created from examples 1 and 2. Go check out all six cards I made in less than 10 minutes and all the materials I used up on the CardMaker Blog. Once you master these six examples you can now make 24+ cards from one 6x6 paper pad in less than an hour. Really! And I'm happy to say this is another project I created with NO stamping! So, get out your pretty paper pads you've been hoarding and get started making cards. ~Kim
I am challenged this week to make anything BUT a card. What??? I'm a card maker and a scrapbooker. What else can I make? Well...it turns out I CAN make other things. lol. I made this gorgeous flamingo necklace for my older sister for her birthday, as she LOVES flamingos. And my lil sister and I learned how to make these fast, easy, quality, and gorgeous jewelry at the Denver Scrapbook Expo last year from Craft Fantastic. We bought the kit and made several necklaces and matching earrings, as Christmas gifts, for at least 8-10 people for under $30 total. And I've bought more kits since. It was amazing and we can't say enough about these products or make enough for gifts or ourselves!
Check out their products, tutorials, and videos here at Craft Fantastic and get started on your own creations. The ideas are endless. Warning...it's VERY addicting, but so fun! ~Kim Challenges: 4 CC #283 {ANYTHING BUT A CARD} Supplies: Craft Fantastic necklace kit; Authentique paper, Jolee flamingo sticker; circle punch; and Ranger diamond stickles glitter glue. Love is in the air...but first I needed to make a February Birthday card for somebody special. And having three sons and one daughter, I rarely get
to make anything girly. So, when I do, I go all out. I wanted it pink and pretty. And I LOVE to mix and match pattern papers. See tutorial and supplies listed below... Hi everybody! Hi Everyone! I'm excited to share with you my first Blog Hop sponsored by May Arts Ribbon & CardMaker. We were tasked to create something with gorgeous May Arts Ribbon with a Valentine's theme. This Blog Hop will give you a jump on tons of ideas to make for all your loved ones for the upcoming Valentine's Day, Anniversaries, Birthday's, and so much more. For this Hop, I created an A2 sized card from red cardstock, punched out several hexagon pieces, used shiny red metallic foil, and created this beautiful heart from this gorgeous adhesive rose ribbon. Click the pictures above for more instructions and see below for materials list and blog hop.
It's winter time and once again our whole town is blanketed in fresh new snow. And my three sons are hoping for a snow day, so we can sleep in and then go sledding! I won't lie, I am too! lol. Anyhoo...before I go sledding, let me share my newest project. I've been wanting to create a home decor piece for a while now. So, over our holiday break I finally sat down and created this 12x12" piece that I could either scrapbook, put on a canvas, or frame it. I started with these two gorgeous stamps from Eat Cake Graphics. Go check out their whole collection. They are all beautifully detailed. I stamped the house on white cardstock first, as to center it, then stamped the lake shoreline stamp twice on each side of the house to create the scene. Sprinkled it in metallic gold embossing powder, and heat set, to make it warm and inviting.
I used glossy accents to create 3D glass windows. Click the smaller pictures above for more detailed instructions. Once dry, I colored the windows with Copic markers to create warmth. Added some icicle glitter glue and shaved ice to really make it snowy all over. Tore the bottom edge, border punched the top with more snowflakes, adhered to blue snowflake paper, and then adhered the whole piece to this lighter 12x12 snowflake paper. Cut out a matching tag and adhere with a border at the bottom of the page. All the papers are from the same kit, which is great, because they all coordinate, and have coordinating stickers and tags too. I love kits! I added stickers for the title, the large white snowflake border, and wintery words on the bottom. Adhered a few navy metal shimmery snowflakes. And scattered some adhesive rhinestones all over to make it sparkle some more. I hope I've inspired you to use your craft supplies in a different way. Enjoy the snow...we will! ~Kim Supplies: Eat Cake Graphics Stamps: 6040-Q, 52 Winters Lane (house) and 7068-P, Lake shoreline; Echo Park Wintertime paper kit & stickers; Fiskars Snowflake border punch or edger; Ranger Stickles icicle glitter glue and green xmas stickles on wreath; Shaved ice; Copic markers; Glossy accents; Glue painters tape; Creative Impressions blue metal snowflakes; Adhesive rhinestones; Versamark clear watermark ink; Ranger super fine detail metallic gold embossing powder; and a Heat gun. Challenges: The Paper Girls Challenge #95 - Home/Family WIW Color Challenge ~ Navy, Light Blue and White Thank you for all your kind words and support these past years I've been blogging and creating online. I truly appreciate it! I always make my own cards and send it homemade from the heart. A phone call or an email is fine, but my mother and grandmother always hand wrote thank you cards and I've always carried that tradition onto my kids. So, I have them each write a few sentences to thank everybody for their presents. Do you make your own thank you cards after the Holidays or do you get a box from the store? Whichever way, it's important to say "thank you."
Santa Claus is coming to town! I found some time to fit in a few more cards to share with you all. I came across this pattern paper that had a lot of my favorite holiday prints in rows all on one sheet. And thought this is perfect for a holiday card. The sheet music reminds me of all the holiday songs we sing this time of year. The argyle print reminds me of holiday sweaters, and the candy cane stripes. And this detailed Santa and his eight reindeer is a wonderfully detailed stamp from Eat Cake Graphics. Go check out their whimsically detailed stamps. They are just precious...
Thinking of you...always...is a sentiment I like to use a lot. I try to make a bunch of these all occasion cards throughout the year, because something always comes up and I need a card. I made this card with just a few embellishments and scraps. Do you save scraps? How do you store your scraps? What do you do with yours? I've seen some fancy storage and organization ideas on Pinterest, but I just have a bin full of pattern paper scraps in no particular order, but it's in one place. So, every couple months I grab it and make cards from the scraps. Use what you've got, right?
Happy (almost) Halloween! Do you make Halloween cards? I do sometimes, as it's one of my favorite holidays and I have TONS of Halloween stamps. But I have LOTS of birthdays between September and April that I make birthday cards for. So I don't usually have time to make any, but I did squeeze in this lovely spooky card.
I love creating one of a kind backgrounds and this one definitely reminded me of a spooky night with the fog creeping in. I recommend using a watercolor paper when using watercolor inks, markers, crayons, pencils, or blending with water. Because it's absorbent, it won't buckle, or pill when you are blending or adding more water... Even though it’s Fall where I am, we are having an Indian Summer with 70-80 degree weather. I can't complain, because it's NEVER like this. Even in Colorado where we can have all four seasons in one day. It's still rare. But I won't hold my breath...it's almost always cold, rainy, or snowing on Halloween and I still take my kids trick or treating. But for a few more weeks we can go outside and enjoy the mountains, beach, or a lake.
So, because of this wonderfully warm weather I was inspired to make this card to remember the days of being at the beach, gathering seashells, and dreaming of mermaids. Or getting in a few more warm lazy days. I received all these precious shells and beads from my Mother-in-law and adhered them with glossy accents, as it dries clear. I knew I wanted to use the shells with this adorable Eat Cake Graphics mermaid stamp... Happy Birthday, Mom! Yes, my parents are two days apart, just like my lil' sister and me. I know, I told you, Fall is crazy busy filled with birthdays. And as many of you know, I rarely get to make pink cards, as my daughter loves purple, and I have three sons and a hubby at home. So, when I came across this pattern paper I just knew I had to make another "quilt" card in pink and black and frilly for my mom. I just love pink and black together. Don't you? It's so classic and gorgeous for any occasion...
I am so excited and honored to be the guest designer this month for: The Paper Girls Challenge #88 Sept 21 - Sweater Weather Who’s ready for sweater weather? I love this time of year when the leaves are changing, the air is getting cooler, pumpkin is everywhere, and you start seeing the patterns of the season. And we have a lot of Fall birthdays in my family, so you will see a lot of birthday cards in the coming months. This week I was inspired by the plaid sweaters you see this time of year and created this card with my sister, Tami, with NO stamping. None! I know, right? We were stunned too! LOL We started with a red card base and a square punch (one inch or 1.5"). And punched out our squares from three different pattern papers from the same coordinating 6x6 pad: green, brown, and plaid. Then ran them through the Xyron sticker maker, cut the squares in half, and adhered them to another square. Layered the squares in a pinwheel quilt pattern to a larger red square and adhered to a larger brown square to create a frame or a double matte. Add some colored adhesive pearls for some shine, add buttons, bakers twine, and a tag sentiment. And you have a great masculine card or a neutral card for Fall, Christmas, or any occasion. Plaid isn't just for the holidays! Supplies: AC red blank cards; Authentique: Believe Collection 6x6 pad; Square Punch; Adhesive pearls; Doodlebug buttons; AC bakers twine; Pebbles banner sentiments; Glue dots; and a Xyron 1.5 sticker maker Now lets see what you can make with a little imagination for our next theme "sweater weather" and enter your creations. Click the logo picture below for more details on how to enter by Sat, October 3rd. Good luck! I also entered this card in these challenges:
52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge-For a Man Little Red Wagon Challenge #307 - Try Something New Skip to my Lou - Made by you Monday I am so excited and honored to be the guest designer this month for The Paper Girls Challenge #87 Sept 7 - Grateful / Thankful What are you grateful or thankful for? I am grateful for Fall, family, and fun together. It’s my most favorite time of the year when the leaves change colors, there’s a chill in the air, pumpkin flavors everywhere, and we have eight birthdays between September and November. It's crazy, but fun. So, I was inspired to make this card really shimmer with the golden color of the season and love that this stamp by Stampendous lists all the fun things we like to do in the Fall. I used Versamark clear ink to stamp the text background and sprinkled with Ranger super fine gold metallic embossing powder. Then added gold tinsel ribbon for some texture and more shimmer. And used a Krylon paint pen to change the clear adhesive gems to gold. Supplies: Stampendous autumn text stamp Versamark clear ink Ranger super fine gold metallic embossing powder Large Corner Rounder punch Scallop circle punch Tim Holtz rosette die cut Gold tinsel ribbon Clear adhesive gems Krylon gold paint pen Now show us your projects, anything that means "grateful or thankful" to you! Click the pic below for more details on how to enter by Sat, Sept. 19th. I entered this card in a challenge:
Happy Fall Y'All! - Little Red Wagon Challenge #308 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #264 - Circles Autumn is in the air today with a cool breeze coming off the mountains. I just love it. Looking in my paper stash I came across this gorgeous paper from BoBunny-Forever Fall and I really wanted it to shine. In my opinion, they do make the most beautiful fall pattern paper collections I've ever seen. This paper didn't need much and I wanted to keep it simple, as to not cover up the paper or the stamping.
I roughed up the edges for a distressed look and adhered to card base. And used this amazing retired stamp from Memory Box that added just enough details. Using what I've got, right? Inked it up with Versamark clear ink and heat embossed it with Ranger super fine gold powder. As well as the sentiment. Then punched out the "thanks" with a tag punch, hole punched, tied some twine around it and added some pop dots for dimension. Just a few supplies and I have this gorgeous card. Change the sentiment and it's great for many occasions. Happy (almost) Fall Ya'll. I entered this card in a challenge: Happy Fall Y'All! - Little Red Wagon Challenge #308 DCC99 ~ Falling for Fall – Autumn 4 Crafty Chicks #262 Fall/GDT Call Fall is in the air and I'm seeing pumpkin stuff, apples, and sunflowers. I just love seeing all the sunflower fields in August, don't you? Rows and rows of gorgeous vibrant color inspired me to share this precious card I made with NO stamping. Really! I used to be intimidated by busy pattern paper or those papers that have a complete scene on them. They're just too pretty to cut or cover up with pictures. So, what do you do with them? Well, hopefully this tutorial will help you...
Summer is here and it’s time for Stuart and Scooter to go on an adventure. They remind us to never stop playing, smiling, and dreaming. And this Eat Cake Graphics stamp is versatile for so many occasions. I love this postage stamp embossed paper and how it pops against the red card base. I think it is from a Teresa Collins travel pad, I'll try and find it and let you know. Sorry, I think I'll remember and I don't. I need to be better about writing things down when I'm creating. I love the 6x6 pads for card making, their just the right size and I seem to collect a lot of them. Anyways, this paper is perfect for documenting all their travels. Can you see the sheen? I stamped the image of Stuart and Scooter with Versafine onyx black ink and colored it with Copic markers, Ranger Tim Holtz mini brown ink and a SU blender pen, and a little bling here and there with spica glitter pens to make it sparkle, of course. Can you see the bling on the goggles, the arrow, and the wheels? I accented the die cut sentiment (from the same pad) and the stamp image with BoBunny blue dot pattern paper for background matting, punched them out, and popped them up with 3D foam adhesive dots. Attached a border strip that resembled airmail postage. And added some Authentique sticker words, star adhesive gems, and red/white bakers twine to make it complete. Where will your next adventure take you? Eat Cake Graphics stamps used: 1074-G, Stuart and puppy Scooter fly |
