Happy Valentines! Whether you celebrate February 14th or not you can always use a simple card for a lovey dovey type occasion any time of year, just change the sentiment. And if you do make Valentines cards, don't fret, there is still time to sneak in some card making before Tuesday. I'll show you how I made these quick and adorable cards for my daughter and three sons with just a few supplies and lots of tips too.

 Happy New Year! I hope 2017 finds you happy, healthy, and crafty. And speaking of crafty I continue our family tradition of making "thank you" cards after the holidays. I was taught by my mom, who was taught by her mom, to send thank you notes for gifts. And it's my ongoing resolution to continue that tradition with all four of my kids too. Of course in today's day and age they would rather send an email note, which I think is better than nothing, I prefer they do it properly. Are you a fan of the *NEW* Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Crayons? I'm not sure yet, I need more practice, I think. They are different than you think and take some getting used to. I was given a set of the neutral color pack to play with and I've tried them a couple different ways. And I will tell you...experiment with various paper types, baby wipes, your fingers, and water to see the different effects you can get with these crayons.   You still have time to make quick and easy Valentines cards for your loved ones. I made these for my four kids with one paper kit that included coordinating paper and stickers, in addition to a heart stamp set.
The first card is for my daughter and I wanted it pink, glittery, and very girly with lots of sparkly bling. Her card is layered paper, stickers, glitter ribbon, adhesive heart gems, and has No stamping. And for my three son's I wanted their cards masculine, simple, red, and full of hearts. These are quick and easy cards for not only Valentines day, but also birthdays, anniversaries, and any day you want to show your loved ones you care. Happy Valentines Day! ~Kim  Do you make cards for Valentines Day? Sometimes I do, time permitting, and this year I had time to play with these gorgeous papers, stamps, and stickers. So, whether you celebrate Valentines Day or not here are a few ideas for some quick cards to make and give your loved ones on the 14th or anytime of year. It doesn't have to take a lot of supplies to make cards. I recommend using a kit or a collection because your paper, stickers, and sentiments all coordinate. I have four kids, so I wanted to make each of them a card. I started with kraft cardstock as my card base on all of them, layered pattern paper and added these wonderful stickers or stamped images. I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE this time of year when all the leaves change colors and the elk and moose come out in abundance. I made this wonderful card for my design team Eat Cake Graphics. This incredible stamp is one whole piece and reminds me of my gorgeous Rocky Mountains with it's shimmery snow capped mountains, green pine trees, and the moose...
 Thinking of you...always...is a sentiment I like to use a lot. I try to make a bunch of these all occasion cards throughout the year, because something always comes up and I need a card. I made this card with just a few embellishments and scraps. Do you save scraps? How do you store your scraps? What do you do with yours? I've seen some fancy storage and organization ideas on Pinterest, but I just have a bin full of pattern paper scraps in no particular order, but it's in one place. So, every couple months I grab it and make cards from the scraps. Use what you've got, right?
 Happy Birthday, Dad! As promised, lots of Fall birthday cards coming your way! Not that you can tell from this picture, but I started with a kraft colored card base. I painted a strip of the top and bottom of the card and a button with a gold paint pen. To make it shimmer like Fall.
On a piece of white cardstock I stamped one of my favorite SU (retired) leaf stamps, from the Fall Whimsy set. Sorry, gotta use what you have. But you can still find this set online. I combined the leaf stamp with a script stamp from Penny Black, and a sentiment stamp, to create this unique stamped image layered upon a one of a kind watercolor background. Supplies: Kraft and white cardstock; Carta Bella Autumn 6x6 pattern paper pad; Krylon gold paint pen; Stampin up stamps-Fall Whimsy (retired); Doodlebug button; twine; Versamark clear ink; Orange embossing powder (Ranger or Zing); Tim Holtz mini dye ink pads: rusty hinge, dried marigold, scattered straw; and glue dots. I know it's Fall around here, but aren't you thinking about Christmas or holiday cards yet? As a card maker it's never too early, because we have to plan time to design, create, and assemble all the parts that go into a handmade card. I think about it all year long. I gather products, pin ideas, go to shows, shop, and organize supplies until about August or September. And everything is kept together in a tote bag until I"m ready to start stamping and cutting.
Then I take a day and play. I get out all the stuff from the tote bag and figure out what I want to use and how I want my card to look like. I don't know about you, but I can't just whip this up in a day. It's quite a process. But I think this one just might be my 2015 Christmas card. What do you think? Little Red Wagon Challenge #309 The House That Stamps Built: WIW September Anything Goes Challenge  Clean and Simple or CAS is the theme for this next Challenge. I've been dying to use this (retired) medallion stamp from SU and create a bunch of all occasion cards. Isn't this a gorgeous stamp? I just love it. I picked a pad of 6x6 pattern paper that had blue and yellow, I think this one is by Theresa Collins. It looks very nautical, don't you think? Then I got out my favorite Ranger Tim Holtz mini inks and made a whole bunch of these cards in all kinds of colors. I kept it simple and just added a few adhesive pearls, blue waterfall colored stickles glitter glue for some sparkle, of course, an American Crafts polka dot ribbon, and a sweet Pebbles die cut chip sentiment to finish it up. I made eight of these cards in a rainbow of colors in just a couple hours and you can too! I'm sooooooooo excited to share the news with you that CardMaker Magazine selected four of my cards for their Autumn 2015 issue. I used precut cardstock, the beginners quilling set, and the Tim Holtz composer tissue wrap paper (which I just love) to create this unique circle card. Add some ribbon and make it a door hanger for some holiday decor or add a pocket for a gift card. Very versatile for an Anniversary, Birthday, Valentines, or just because.
